Distribution patterns

With copolymers, it is not sufficient merely to describe the empirical formula to characterize the molecule. Another question that can be asked concerns the distribution of the different kinds of repeat units in the molecule. Starting from monomers A and B, the following distribution patterns are obtained in linear polymers ...

Surface water enrichment is the result of aeolian and fluvial inputs, which are thought to be the most important sources of Th to the ocean. Thorinm-232 has been proposed as a link between the radiogenic thorium isotopes and trace metals and anthropogenic pollutants. In general, the multiphasic heterogenous nature of the impact grade styrene-based polymers is the root cause of their opaque-turbid nature. If PaU rings had been used, only tw O packed sections would be considered, because the general liquid distribution pattern is better. This would require a reevaluation of the performance, and a probable reduction in total packed height.

A Del Electronics, Model ESP-100A, electrostatic precipitator was used for sample collection. Detection of Gunshot Residues on Floor Surfaces In another study at the Pennsylvania State University (Ref 20), gunshot residues from firing tests were assayed in order to establish distribution patterns of Ba and Sb on surfaces below the flight path of the buliet... 

Firing tests with the other cal handgnns indicated distinguishable differences in the overall distribution patterns of discharge residues from different handguns. This unique distribution pattern of residues deposited immediately below the flight path of the bullet results from the cloud of combustion products emitted thru the barrel of/the weapon. 

Nondestructive NAA can thus be used for the detection and measurement of Ba, Sb (and also Cu) from residue samples collected from the floor surface after the single firing of a handgun. By constructing a unique distribution pattern of these residues, it is possible to establish the flight path of the bullet and the proximity of the gun with respect to the target. The development of this information, particularly in the absence of a firearm, a bullet or an eyewitness, can be of considerable value in criminal investigations...

Similar results are obtained from incineration of polymeric materials with octabromo- and pentabromodiphenyl ether (refs. 11,12). The temperature with the maximum PBDF-yield depends on the kind of polymeric matrix. All three bromo ethers 1-2 give the same isomer distribution pattern with preference for tetrabrominated dibenzofiirans. The overall yield of PBDF is lower for incineration of pentabromobiphenyl ether 2, 4 % at 700°C compared to 29 % for ether 1 at 500 °C (ref. 12). The preferred formation of tetrabrominated fiirans observed at all temperatures cannot be a result of thermodynamic control of the cyclisation reaction it is likely due to the special geometry of the furnaces. One explanation is that a spontaneous reaction occurs at approximately 400°C while the pyrolysis products are transferred to the cooler zones of the reactor details can be found elsewhere (ref. 12). 

The survey of geographical distribution patterns of secondary plant constitnents starts with examples that come, more or less, from within continents. In many examples, the patterns of variation involve comparatively small areas, a few connties perhaps, and could be referred to as local whereas in others, considerably larger areas are involved, often several states or provinces, or even large pieces of a country. In most cases, however, the regions nnder consideration lie within a single continental land-mass. A few examples come from island systems (e.g., New Zealand) where the existence of major landmasses separated by a small stretch of water does not appear to have had an effect upon the distribution reported, or at least none has been reported.
