Residence Time Distribution A Tool for Analysis of Fluid Mixing Pattern

3 Residence Time Distribution A Tool for Analysis of Fluid Mixing Pattern [Pg.200]

Non-ideality in a homogeneous reactor refers to any kind of deviation from the fluid mixing pattern defined for ideal reactors (ideal CSTR and ideal PFR). In reality, all the reactors are non-ideal. In order to evaluate the performance of any reactor (i.e. extent of conversion achieved in a reactor), it is necessary to diagnose the non-ideality in the reactor. [Pg.200]

Diagnosis of non-ideality involves identification of type of non-ideality pattern of fluid mixing and assessment of the degree of non-ideality (a quantitative measure of extent of [Pg.200]

AF(0) = F(0 + A0) - F(0) is the fraction of the fluid elements leaving the reaction vessel at any time whose residence time is between 0 and 0 + A0. Taking limit as A0 0, we define another distribution function of 0 denoted as E(0) [Pg.202]
