Derivative definition

A consensus-derived definition and classification system for ARF has been proposed and is being validated (Fig. 75-1). Components of the system include both GFR and UOP plus two clinical outcomes. Definitions of risk of dysfunction, injury to and /ail ure of the kidney, loss of function, and end-stage kidney disease are included in the RIFLE acronym. 

Due to this derived definition, circuits are mistakenly considered as intrinsically safe due to the circuit utilizing low energy. However, in reality, the circuit may not qualify as intrinsically safe because the definition as stated in NFPA 493-1978 qualifies the above definition. 

The results of EPR studies of photoezcited triplets of model systems show that it is not possible to give generally applicable rules for the interpretation of the spectroscopic data. In a number of cases there appears to be a well-understood relationship between dimerization effects and dimer geometry. In most of the systems considered here that is not the case. It is not clear to what difference in make-up of the dimers this discrepancy must be attributed and this is an interesting point of further investigation. Evidently, as long as the data on fairly well characterized model systems are not fully understood it will be impossible to derive definitive conclusions concerning the structure of the special pair from data on its photoexcited triplet state.

While more data will generally help derive a more robust aquatic EQS, the reality is that for many substances data are few. As indicated, the standard test species approach using AFs can be applied to very small data sets (e.g., toxicity data on 1 alga, 1 crustacean, and 1 fish), but it is not recommended for deriving definitive EQSs. 

While we recommend caution in the use of calculation methods in place of actual toxicity tests, we recognize the longer-term importance, for ethical reasons, of Ending validated alternatives to vertebrate animal testing (i.e., with fish and amphibians), such as QSARS. For the present, however, there is no viable alternative to biological testing when deriving definitive EQS values.

The rapid rise in use of credit derivatives has contributed to the liquidity and depth of this market worldwide. It has also fostered the adoption of standardized terms and definitions. In Europe and Asia, the standard credit default swap contract used the restructuring definition (sometimes referred to as old restructuring ), whereas in the North American markets the standard credit default swap contracts refer to modified restructuring. The 2003 ISDA Credit Derivative Definitions, which were in place in early 2003 (implementation in May 2003), have implemented some key amendments to the 1999 definitions, some of which were previously included in supplements issued by ISDA.

Few researchers have presented empirically measurable or robust empirically derived definitions of inclusion. Micbal Mor-Barak and David Cherin presented an empirically measurable Inclusion-Exclusion model.
