Steels classification

Strapping. Strapping can be used to secure not only containers but stand-alone unitized loads and palletized unit loads as well. There are two major strapping classifications steel and plastic. Steel strapping is dimensionally stable under all but extreme conditions and plastic strapping is more resilient. [Pg.178]

When a block is inside, the entrance panel is closed and the inspection is ready to start. The inside of the stainless steel X-ray tubehead housing is clad in lead with an on/ofT shutter in front of a thin plastic X-ray window. The thin window is to ensure the IP 65 classification. The window is of plastic that is not affected by the cleaning agents. The on/off shutter is interlocked with the entrance and exit panels so X-rays can be kept on at all times without risk of radiation leakage or exposure of the frozen fish blocks prior to the actual inspection. [Pg.591]

Production and Shipment. Estimated adiponitrile production capacities in the U.S. in 1992 were about 625 thousand metric tons and worldwide capacity was in excess of lO metric tons. The DOT/IMO classification for adiponitrile is class 6.1 hazard, UN No. 2205. It requires a POISON label on all containers and is in packing group III. Approved materials of constmction for shipping, storage, and associated transportation equipment are carbon steel and type 316 stainless steel. Either centrifugal or positive displacement pumps may be used. Carbon dioxide or chemical-foam fire extinguishers should be used. There are no specifications for commercial adiponitrile. The typical composition is 99.5 wt % adiponitrile. Impurities that may be present depend on the method of manufacture, and thus, vary depending on the source. [Pg.221]

Shipping and Storage. The DOT ha2ard classification for BENZONITRILE is "Elammable", UN No. 2224. Carbon-steel dmms and tanks may be used for storage. [Pg.225]

AWS) has issued specifications covering the various filler-metal systems and processes (2), eg, AWS A5.28 which appHes to low alloy steel filler metals for gas-shielded arc welding. A typical specification covers classification of relevant filler metals, chemical composition, mechanical properties, testing procedures, and matters related to manufacture, eg, packaging, identification, and dimensional tolerances. New specifications are issued occasionally, in addition to ca 30 estabUshed specifications. Filler-metal specifications are also issued by the ASME and the Department of Defense (DOD). These specifications are usually similar to the AWS specification, but should be specifically consulted where they apply. [Pg.348]

DMF can be purchased ia steel dmms (DOT 17E, UNlAl, 410 lbs net = 186 kg), tank tmcks, and railcars. On Oct. 1, 1993, new regulations in the United States were estabUshed for DMF under HM-181 the official shipping name is /V, /V- dim ethyl form am i de (shipping designation UN 2265, Packing Group III, Flammable Liquid). Formerly, it was classified as a Combustible Liquid in bulk quantities, but as "Not Regulated" in dmms (49 CFR). International overseas shipments have an IMCO classification of 3.3. [Pg.513]

Units are available in stainless steel or protected mild steel, often prefabricated, up to 12.5 m in diameter, capable of processing >5 m /s depending on the separation efficiency required. When the separator is used for classification of granular soflds, smaller-diameter (<4 m) units are used, separating nearly all particles coarser than - 150 fim. [Pg.322]

The uses of steel are too diverse to be Hsted completely or to serve as a basis of classification. Inasmuch as grades of steel are produced by more than one process, classification by method of manufacture is not advantageous. The most useful classification is by chemical composition into the large groups of carbon steels, alloy steels, and stainless steels. Within these groups are many subdivisions based on chemical composition, physical or mechanical properties, or uses. [Pg.373]

Shipment and Storage. Liquid sulfur dioxide is commonly shipped in North America using 55- and 90-t tank cars, 20-ton tank tmcks, 1-ton cylinders, and 150-lb cylinders. Cylinders made of specified steel are affixed with the green label for nonflammable gases. The DOT classification is Poison Gas, Inhalation Ha2ard. Purchasers of tank-car quantities are required to have adequate storage faciUties for prompt transfer. [Pg.147]

Benzyl alcohol is sold in fractional and 3.5-kg glass bottles, and steel dmms containing 22, 113, and 208 kg. The photo and textile grades are available in tankwagon and tankcar quantities. Ereight classification chemicals, NOIBN ICC regulations, none. [Pg.60]

Benzyl chloride is classified by DOT as chemicals NOIBN, poisonous, corrosive and a hazardous substance (100 lbs-45.45 kg). Benzal chloride is classified as poisonous and a hazardous substance (5000 lbs-2270 kg). Benzotrichloride is classified under DOT regulation as a corrosive Hquid NOS and a hazardous substance (10 lbs-4.5 kg). The Freight Classification Chemical NOI appHes. It is shipped in lacquer-lined steel dmms and nickel-lined tank trailers. Benzal chloride is handled in a similar fashion. [Pg.60]

With these definitions in mind, a systematic classification has been made. The various types of embrittlement found in refineries and petrochemical plant equipment, susceptible steels, basic causes, and common remedies are listed in the accompanying table. [Pg.250]

Figure 4-163 shows a steel body PDC bit with standard-size cutters lightly set on a deep inner cone profile. This bit has changeable nozzles and is best described as having a ribbed flow pattern although there are open face characteristics near the center and bladed characteristics near the gage. The lADC classification code in this case is S 7 4 4. [Pg.807]

In this section, no attempt will be made to follow the modern classification system the reader is referred to the works ofBergey (Buchanan Gibbons 1974), Cowan and Steel (Cowan 1993) and Logan (1994) for an overview of classification. [Pg.25]
