Typical Specifications

Quality Specifications. Because of the extreme sensitivity of polyamide synthesis to impurities ia the iagredients (eg, for molecular-weight control, dye receptivity), adipic acid is one of the purest materials produced on a large scale. In addition to food-additive and polyamide specifications, other special requirements arise from the variety of other appHcations. Table 8 summarizes the more important specifications. Typical impurities iaclude monobasic acids arising from the air oxidation step ia synthesis, and lower dibasic acids and nitrogenous materials from the nitric acid oxidation step. Trace metals, water, color, and oils round out the usual specification Hsts. [Pg.246]

Analysis and Specifications. Typical product analyses include sohds level, ash, color, conductivity, purity, and minor saccharide levels (19). Specifications for anhydrous and monohydrate crystalline dextrose are available (15). High quahty anhydrous dextrose produced for the pharmaceutical industry is prepared in accordance with additional specifications (20). [Pg.292]

Specifications. Typical specifications are indicated in Table 7 for Hquid, frozen, and dried egg products. Every lot of egg product is tested for moisture, pH, total bacteria count, coliform, yeast and mold, and Salmonella. [Pg.460]

These cool the interstage gas. They may also be required to cool the discharge gas prior to gas treating or dehydration or to meet pipeline specifications. Typically, aerial coolers are used in these situations. [Pg.280]

Figure 12-8A. Piston rings. The piston rod is manufactured from heat-treated stainless steel and is coated with wear-resistant overlays, such as ceramic, chromium oxide, and tungsten carbide applied by plasma techniques. Piston rod cross-head attachment has mechanical preloading system for the threads. Rider rings and seal rings are manufactured from PTFE filled resins fillers are matched to the gas, piston speed, and liner specifications. Typical fillers are glass, carbon, coke, or ceramic. Automotive gasoline contains 150 or more different chemical compounds and the relative concentrations of the compounds vary considerably, depending on the source of crude oil, refinery process, and product specifications. Typical hydrocarbon constituents are (volume basis) alkanes (4 to 8%), alkenes (2 to 5%), isoalkanes (25 to 40%), cycloalkanes (3 to 7%), cycloalkenes (1 to 4%), and aromatics (20 to 50%). However, these proportions vary greatly. [Pg.70]

More specifically, typical operating conditions are a flow rate of 4 pounds per hour, a fuel temperature from the heat exchanger of 400°F, a filter temperature of 500°F, and a fuel pressure of 150 pounds per square inch gage. Fuel stability is then determined by operating until a pressure drop of 25 inches of mercury is obtained across the filter or until 300 minutes have elapsed. No heater tube appearance requirements have been designated... [Pg.518]

The main difference between hungers and emotions has been that hungers are more obviously controlled by the deprivation or supply of specific concrete stimuli. Even so, hungers for specific objects are extensively influenced by learned processes called tastes, and thus have some of the cultural specificity typical of emotions. To develop a taste for yak butter or blubber you must leam to associate their fatty flavor with satisfaction to develop a taste for an abused substance, you must come to associate the chemical taste of alcohol or the disgust and nausea of heroin injection with the euphoria of the high. [Pg.212]

Functional Requirements. Based on the user requirements, more detailed functional requirements can then be defined. Take as an example a gradient HPLC system with UV-Vis detection required to run a stability-indicating method. The functions of each of the hardware and software components required to perform the tasks in the user requirements should be specified. The functional specifications typically include ... [Pg.143]

It is very likely that the metal-insulator transition, the unusual catalytic properties, the unusual degree of chemical reactivity, and perhaps even some of the ultramagnetic properties of metal clusters are all linked intimately with the dynamic, vibronic processes inherent in these systems. Consequently, the combination of pump-probe spectroscopy on the femtosecond time scale with theoretical calculations of wavepacket propagation on just this scale offers a tantalizing way to address this class of problems [5]. Here we describe the application of these methods to several kinds of metal clusters with applications to some specific, typical systems first, to the simplest examples of unperturbed dimers then, to trimers, in which internal vibrational redistribution (IVR) starts to play a central role and finally, to larger clusters, where dissociative processes become dominant. [Pg.103]

Specifications typically required for a custom-designed application are known as the URS, functional requirements specification (FRS), and the detailed design specification (DDS). A description of each specification and its function follows. [Pg.232]
