In spite of the Banks Committee report, the new law was passed, again illustrating perhaps the triumph of political appeal, over reason. It will he interesting to observe what happens to future patent output in England, since traditionally, it has been a very productive nation, in terms of patents issued. [Pg.217]

The classification adopted by the Nomenclature Committee (NC) of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) divides peptidases into classes and subclasses according to the positional specificity in the cleavage of the peptide link of the substrate. The last publication of the complete printed version of the Enzyme Nomenclature was in 1992 [1][2], but a constantly updated version with supplements is available on the World Wide Web at http //www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iubmb/enzyme/. Similarly, all available Protein Data Bank (PDB) entries classified as recommended by the NC-IUBMB can be found on the WWW at http //www.bio-chem.ucl.ac.uk/bsm/enzymes/. [Pg.30]

Detector, with active length = 2.122 °, was used. 0/20 scans were reorded from 4 to 70 0 20 (step size=0.017° time=50 s per step). The evaluation of crystalline phases was carried out using the DIFFRACT/AT program by Siemens, which includes the Joint Committee of Powder Diffraction Standards (JCPDS) data bank. [Pg.383]

Because of the scientific and cost-effective value of specimen banks for maintaining samples for future analyses, the committee concludes that there should be provisions for increased availability of previously collected and characterized samples. In addition, long-term funding for both existing and new biorepositories should be supported. [Pg.37]

Generally the preferred data source is experimental measurement. Only in rare cases are prediction methods able to give more accurate estimates than a carefully executed experiment. Therefore, one of the major objectives of this Handbook is to provide comprehensive data bases for the phase equilibria of polymer-solvent systems and pressure-volume-temperature behavior of pure polymers. Thus, data have been compiled from extensive literature searches. These data cover a wide range of polymers, solvents, temperatures, and pressures. The data have been converted into consistent units and tabulated in a common format. Methods of evaluating and formatting these data banks have been established by the DIPPR Steering Committee for Project 881 and the Project Investigators. [Pg.1]
