Sino-Ethiop Associate (Africa) PEC (SEAA) was established in March 2001 as a joint venture between an Ethiopian company, Zaf Pharmaceuticals PEC, and two Chinese companies (China Associate Croup and Dandong JINWAN Croup). SEAA produces empty hard gelatin capsules and sells them to pharmaceutical factories in Africa and the Middle East. Recently, SEAA completed its expansion project and doubled its production capacity, to 2.4 billion capsules annually. SEAA has recently acquired Certificate of PIC/S conformity. It will be shown later that companies established through joint venture have been generally successful.

Jibutilon theophrasti is a herbaceous annual plant produciag a jute-like fiber. The plant is native to the People s RepubHc of China and is commercially grown ia China and the former USSR. Because of its association with jute ia mixtures and export, it is also called China jute. The plant grows to a height of 3—6 m with a stem diameter of 6—16 mm. After harvesting by hand and defoHation, bundles of the stems are water retted and the fiber is extracted by methods similar to those for jute. The fiber is used for twiae and ropes. 

Fungi are broadly associated microbial pathogens of insects. Beauveria bassiana is extensively used as a microbial insecticide in China and Eastern Europe, especially for the control of the com borer Ostrinia spp. However, fungi have had no significant development as microbial insecticides in the United States.

Pure selenium deficiency, without concurrent vitamin E deficiency, is not generally seen except in animals on experimental diets (113). In China, selenium deficiency in humans has been associated with Keshan disease, a cardiomyopathy seen in children and in women of child-bearing ages, and Kashin-Beck disease, an endemic osteoarthritis in adolescents (113).

Uranium is commonly associated with molybdenum, fluorine, etc. Examples are the uranium deposits in Michelin, Canada Nopal I in Chihualiua, Mexico Macusani in Pern and numerous deposits in China and the CIS (16). 

As of 1995, there were only a few commercial oil shale faciUties operating in the world. These faciUties are located in countries where the economic, pohtical, and environmental requirements for commercial oil shale development are met. There are commercial oil shale faciUties in Bra2il, China, Estonia, and Israel. No commercial oil shale faciUties have existed in the United States because the costs of shale oil processing exceed those associated with conventional petroleum cmde processing. 

Tungsten deposits occur in association with metamorphic rocks and granitic igneous rocks throughout the world (Table 2). Deposits in China constitute over half of the world reserves and over five times the reserves of the second largest source, Canada.
