Aluminum siding

Thermal Insulation. Foamed plastics (qv) are used as thermal insulation for aU types of constmction because of their low heat- and moisture-transmission values. Polystyrene is used either as foamed board or expandable beads. The foam may be faced with a stmctural surfacing material, eg, a kraft liner-board, to form a panel for insulating mobile homes. These foams can dupHcate the appearance of wood and be used as trim. Foams can also be used as backing, for example, on aluminum siding, to provide heat and sound insulation. Foamed beads can be incorporated in concrete to reduce its density and provide some thermal insulation. [Pg.332]

Organosols find their major application in coatings, which may be applied by spray, dip, knife, roller, etc. Typical products are coated aluminum siding, fabrics, paper, industrial coatings, etc. [Pg.1357]

The RAIR and ATR spectra were obtained using a Perkin-Elmer Model 1800 FTIR equipped with Harrick Scientific Co. external reflection and internal reflection accessories. Reflection spectra of the aluminum side of the fracture surfaces were referenced to spectra obtained from freshly polished aluminum substrates to obtain difference spectra of material left on these surfaces. [Pg.497]

In most parts of the world, except India, safflower seed is handled in bulk. In Califomia this is accomplished in large aluminum-sided, bottom-dumping, open-top truck trailers of approximately 10-121 capacity each, two of which are hauled in tandem to a field by a truck tractor unit. The trailers are left by the field to be filled by the farmer, and the tractor unit returns and hauls the full trailers directly to the oil mill or export terminal (in some cases up to 250 km away) or to a closer grain elevator for intermediate storage. In other parts of the United States, safflower is delivered in many types of grain trucking equipment and much of it is delivered to small country elevators where it is stored, cleaned if necessary, and subsequently loaded onto trucks or railroad hopper cars (which can hold between 50 and 701 of safflower seed) for delivery to a buyer. [Pg.1150]

With a pencil I outlined an inch border on all four sides of the fiberboard. This one inch border marks the space taken up by the aluminum side bars/frame of the panel. [Pg.31]

Three layers aluminum side bars, silicone gaskets, Plexiglass . Note that the gasket joint is staggered with the aluminum side bar joints. [Pg.58]

Micromolar amounts of aluminum hydroxide profoundly reduce the voltage dependence of VDAC (36, 37). Although initial results were consistent with a direct neutralization of the voltage sensor (36), further work (30) indicates that an indirect effect is more likely. The presence of aluminum hydroxide in the compartment on one side of a membrane inhibits channel closure when that side is made negative. Positive potentials on the aluminum side result in VDAC closure, but channel reopening is inhibited. This phenomenon can be explained in terms of an aluminum hydroxide binding site that is translocated across the membrane (30). [Pg.253]

Truck bodies are often constructed of steel frames with aluminum side walls. The aluminum alloys are pretreated by application of 5-8 pm of a chromate-containing wash primer. The topcoat is a two-pack acrylic resin bearing hydroxyl groups and is cross-linked with aliphatic isocyanates. [Pg.251]

The active ingredient of the MTR, enriched uranium, is introduced as. an aluminum alloy, tolled to sheet form and clad on the edges and faces with 2S aluminum. The finished core dimension is to be 0,020 by 23.75 by 2.55 in. and is to be centered with respect to edges, ends, and faces. Dimensional details are given in Table A6.A. Eighteen of these fuel plates are then furnace brazed to grooved aluminum side plates to form subassemblies. A cross-section of such an assembly is shown in Chap. 2. Fig. 2.2.A. [Pg.538]

The third and final design consisted of narrow 3-in. curved plates brazed to aluminum side plates with cooling annuli between the active plates. A complete list of. drawings concerned with the fuel assembly is given at the end of this appendix. [Pg.540]

PVC coated aluminum siding experienced severe peeling of surface coating. The majority of peeling occurred on southern exposure. HPLC analysis showed that in the peeling area there was from 6 to 7.9% phthalate plasticizer. In nonfailing areas, concentration of the plasticizer was from 8.7 to 14.3%... [Pg.478]

The improvements relating mainly to colour resistance and impact retention allowed rapid growth in the vinyl siding industry by the late 1970s. By mid-1982 most major aluminum siding producers were also manufacturing vinyl sidings [31, 32]. [Pg.20]

Plasterboard, wood paneling, fabric-covered paneling, or wallboard can be used effectively to cover up areas of wall with lead paint inside a home. Aluminum siding can be used to cover exterior walls. Check local fire laws to see if any particular wall covering materials are prohibited where you live. These materials should be permanently attached by cementing. [Pg.117]
