Achievability method

The Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (ANCDF) RCRA permit language defines chemical agent free as agent concentrations below the lowest achievable method detection limits as specified by the analytical method used. In addition, at ANCDF, under a recent permit modification, certain solid wastes not exposed to chemical agent liquids or to vapors >1 STL are deemed to be nonhazardous with respect to chemical agent and may be disposed of off-site in accordance with the applicable solid waste regulations. [Pg.57]

A total synthesis of vinblastine has not as yet been achieved. Methods of preparation involve making initial crude extracts from the periwinkle plant, followed by extraction at selected pH into organic solvents, and final separation of the complex mixture of alkaloids by column chromatography. Several methods have been devised since Noble, Beer, and Cutts1 first reported the isolation of vinblastine as the sulfate salt. A few are briefly described here. [Pg.452]

Colorimetric assays for the determination of microcystins are therefore attractive, provided that sufficient specificity and sensitivity can be achieved. Methods based on using p-nitrophenyl phosphate (p-NPP) as substrate and measuring the colored p-nitrophenol released have been reported [126,130,161-163], More recently, the method has been adapted for fluorescence measurements using the substrates methylumbeUiferyl phosphate (MUP) and difluoromethyllumberlliferyl phosphate (DiMUP) [164,165]. [Pg.864]

Pigging by itself is one of the best ways to physically remove biofilms, and when it is combined with a sophisticated technology to collect data, it may sound like the best technically achievable method, especially in terms of MIC likelihood prediction. Nevertheless, it is important to vmder-stand that although smart pigs are among the best techniques that industry has been plying to... [Pg.88]

We conducted a case study based on a series of interviews and workshops during the period 2006-2008. The main objective of this study was to map both the actual use of and the perceived usefulness of ISO 11064 and CRIOP in the Norwegian petrolemn sector. We achieved method triangulation by comparing the interview data with the workshop experiences. [Pg.297]

The achieved method quantitation limits (MQLs) allow the determination of dl-PCBs and the major PCBs well below the maximum limits set by the EU legislation (European Commission, 2011a,b). Also for BaP and the sum of BaP, BaA, BbFA and CHR, low MQLs of0.025 and 0.1 ig/kg could be achieved. The reported MQLs were defined by a S/N > 6 for the quantitative transition and S/N > 3 for the confirmation transition (European Commission, 2012). [Pg.677]

Syntheses of steroids using this method of building up the skeleton have so far been studied to a very small extent and few results have been achieved methods for obtaining tetracyclic mcxiel compounds have been developed (Schemes 119 and 120). The key stage of these syntheses is the diene condensation of derivatives of 4-vinylindan with benzoquinone this leads simultaneously to the formation of ring B and the introduction of ring A as a component of the dienophile (see Chapter II, Section 3). [Pg.306]

Now we consider some of the methods by which such separations can be achieved. A comprehensive survey is beyond the scope of this text, and many good surveys are already available. ... [Pg.68]

A simple method to achieve this is based on the fact that for any value of R there is a maximum asymptotic value for P, say, P axi which is given as Ft tends to - c and is given by ... [Pg.224]

Adsorption. Some organics are not removed in biological systems operating under normal conditions. Removal of residual organics can be achieved by adsorption. Both activated carbon and synthetic resins are used. As described earlier under pretreatment methods, regeneration of the activated carbon in a furnace can cause carbon losses of perhaps 5 to 10 percent. [Pg.319]

Measurement of the energy difference is achieved by a resonance method. The population of nuclei in a given state is governed by the Boltzman distribution that leg s to an of nuclei in the state of lowest energy and... [Pg.64]

Decommissioning may be achieved in different ways, depending on the facilities type and the location. This section will also briefly look at the ways in which decommissioning can be deferred by extending the field life, and then at the main methods of well abandonment and facilities decommissioning. [Pg.365]

In integrated photoelasticity it is impossible to achieve a complete reconstruction of stresses in samples by only illuminating a system of parallel planes and using equilibrium equations of the elasticity theory. Theory of the fictitious temperature field allows one to formulate a boundary-value problem which permits to determine all components of the stress tensor field in some cases. If the stress gradient in the axial direction is smooth enough, then perturbation method can be used for the solution of the inverse problem. As an example, distribution of stresses in a bow tie type fiber preforms is shown in Fig. 2 [2]. [Pg.138]

Thus, for years now wheels have been tested with eddy-currents with a special emphasis on finding superficial defects on the wheel s running surface. At the beginning, hand-guided probes were used which the tester slid across the surface that was to be tested. To do so, the wheel was placed on a turn table which the operator had to move manually. A higher test reliability in the transitional radius between the body and the bead wheel was achieved by using special form-fitted probes. Nonetheless, it was not possible to rule out completely that the wheel was not scanned 100 %. This test method did not allow for documentation and a subsequent reconstruction of the test. [Pg.306]

Progress in mean of modelisation and inverse problem solving [1] let us hope to dispose soon of these tools for flaws 3D imaging in Non Destructive Control with eddy current sensors. This will achieve a real improvement of the actual methods, mainly based upon signature analysis. But the actual eddy current probes used for steam generators tubes inspection in nuclear industry do not produce the adequate measurements and/or are not modelisable. [Pg.357]

Of course it is possible to calculate a complete three dimensional visualisation of the object on the base of many adjacent two-dimensional CT- sUces. By this method very detailed results can be achieved. But the total time of data acquisition increases proportional with the number of slices. [Pg.586]

This paper intends to give, through different examples, guide-lines for characterization of array probes. We discuss, particularly, beam pattern measurement methods and raise the question whether it is useful to achieve a full characterization of all beams steered by the probe or to limit the characterization to a minimum set of acoustic configurations. An automatic bench for full characterization of tube inspection probes is described. [Pg.819]

The methods and means for ecological diagnostics make rapid strides among all the NDT and TD developing areas. To provide the atmosphere monitoring recently the good results were achieved in the development of surface-acoustics wave sensors (SAW), laser measuring systems, infrared detectors and systems based on other physical principles. [Pg.912]

NDT as an objective method, which can be applied for 100% control if necessary, is used for quality assessment of critical components all over the world. But it is necessary to support quality of the implementation of NDT to ensure the detection of defects and to achieve reliable results. [Pg.953]

For this kind of case, a modification of the dilution method is being developed. Instead of using an external fixed-geometry measurement chamber, a suitable part of the process, e.g. a stretch of pipe, is used. A radiation detector is mounted on the outside of the pipe, and a tracer emitting sufficiently hard gamma radiation is used. As sufficient mixing can be achieved by injecting upstream the separator the radiation level found will be strictly proportional to the concentration and thus inversely proportional to the true flow rate. [Pg.1056]
