Written standards

A specific detailed description and protocol should be written (standard operating procedure (SOP)). 

Standards for Gleaned Steel Surfaces. The most important standards (4) used to specify and evaluate cleaned steel surfaces are summari2ed in Table 2 in order of increasing cost. Photographic standards consistent with the written standards in Table 2 are also available (5). 

D. Task-specific hazard analyses must lead to the development of written standard operating procedures (SOPs) that specify the controls necessary to safely perform each task. Detailed hazard analyses conducted for each site task and operation provide the basis for developing SOPs to protect employees from safety and health hazards. Written SOPs provide a mechanism for informing employees of procedures that ensure their safety and for enabling management to enforce hazard control procedures. 

Written Standards. Many existing programs may have been developed informally without written standards or expectations. A Quality Management approach requires that such standards be proposed, approved, and adopted. These standards form the basis for any program, they outline the objectives and they should be based on customer needs. 

For many government contracts and for most major projects, or where the performance of the coating is vital, supplies of paint are often sampled at the manufacturer s works and checked in a laboratory to ensure that they conform to the standard specified. This may be a written standard for composition or performance or a proprietary paint which has been approved by long experience or special trials. 

Written standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure that each method is carried out in an identical way. 

Everything in a given case folder is present because of an FDA regulation requirement or a related company-written standard operating procedure. 

In this book, standard is used only in the sense of written standard and the term measurement standard or etalon (in French etalon )(see slide 36) is used to describe chemical or physical standards used for calibration purposes such as chemicals of established purity and their corresponding solutions of known concentration, UV filter, weights, etc. They are also called reference materials. 

A written standard is used for widely adopted procedures, specifications, technical recommendations etc.

The laboratory should have written Standard Operating Procedures approved by the Laboratory Director that are intended to ensure the quality and integrity of the data generated by that laboratory. The Laboratory Director has the responsibility to approve revisions to standard operating procedures. The SOPs must be available to the persormel that are involved in the relevant activities as well as to the quality assurance team that performs the audit.

To determine the stability of the test and control articles in the mixture as required by the conditions of the study either (i) before study initiation, or (ii) concomitantly according to written standard operating procedures which provide for periodic analysis of the test and control articles in the mixture. 

Test that water of appropriate quality (conductivity) is produced by the system using written standard operating procedures. 

Using the written standard operating procedure, start up and run the distillation equipment. 

The written Standard Operating Procedures required under 58.81(b)(ll) shall set forth in sufficient detail the methods, materials, and schedules to be used in the routine inspection, cleaning, maintenance, testing, calibration, and/or standardization of equipment, and shall specify, when appropriate, remedial action to be taken in the event of failure or malfunction of equipment. The written standard operating procedures shall designate the person responsible for the performance of each operation. 

Written records shall be maintained of all inspection, maintenance, testing, calibrating and/or standardizing operations. These records, containing the date of the operation, shall describe whether the maintenance operations were routine and followed the written standard operating procedure. 

There should be written standard operating procedures (SOP) in place before sampling. Before sampling, the operator should have all the equipment, containers, and labels needed for sampling this information should be included in the SOP. All labels should be applied at the time of sampling. 

Development of written standard operating procedures for any laboratory procedures used. 

The following principles should be used to establish a valid analytical method A specific detailed description and protocol should be written (standard operating procedure (SOP)). Each step in the method should be investigated to determine the extent to which environmental, matrix, material, or procedural variables, from time of collection of material until the time of analysis and including the time of analysis, may affect the estimation of analy te in the matrix. A method should be validated for its intended use with an acceptable protocol. Wherever possible, tire same matrix should be used for validation purposes. The concentration range over which the analyte will be determined must be defined in the method, on the basis of actual standard samples over the range (standard curve). It is necessary to use a sufficient number of standards to adequately define the relationship between concentration and response. Determination of accuracy and precision should he made by analysis of replicate sets of analyte samples of known concentration from equivalent matrix. 

Determine if the site, location, or department has appropriate written standards of performance opposite each important program element. 

Establish that a program of regular internal audits exists for each important program element, to assess actual field performance as compared to written standards of performance. 

Management interviews and the examination of program documents and records reveal whether the safety and loss prevention program contains essential elements with written standards of performance based on Dow s best global know-how. 

The GLP regulations boil down to this if you submit a study to a regulatory agency, then this study should have been conducted in a proper facility by qualified personnel, using properly maintained and calibrated equipment, following written standard procedures and checked routinely by an independent and qualified person. All the original data should be archived and it should be possible to validate the final report of the study by an audit of raw data. 

Fourth, following written standard operating procedures. There is no mystique to SOPs, they are the heart of any test facility. They assure that everyone follows the same procedure each time, that there is no oral law that supercedes the written text. How detailed should these be There are text books on the market with standard operating procedures written in - just like you go to the stationary or office supply shop and buy a standard form will or rental agreement. You have to fill in the blanks. My definition of an SOP is a written procedure that can be followed by any well informed qualified individual with the complete expectation that the anticipated result will be obtained. Can an instruction book be an SOP Probably not. Most instruction books are written as if they had been badly translated from a foreign language. They are frequently difficult to understand. The instruction book can certainly be a part of the SOP, but rarely the SOP itself. 

To determine the stability and, when relevant to the conduct of the experiment, the solubility of the test, control, or reference substance in the mixture before the experimental start date. Determination of the stability and solubility of the test, control, or reference substance in the mixture shall be done under the environmental conditions specified in the protocol and as required by the conditions of the experiment. Where periodic analysis of the mixture is required by the protocol, there shall be written standard operating procedures that shall be followed. 

The record of a traceability protocol is a written document that may serve in science and technology as reference in product control as procedural written standard in environmental comparisons as precept [10] in trade and industry as basis for agreement, especially where border crossings are involved and in courts of law as a means to judge whether specified limits are met4. 

Compared to the simplicity of the relative method, with its simple measurement equation, there is a hidden complexity in the k0 method complex algorithms, dedicated software for reactor neutron fluxes and gamma ray measurement efficiency and many problems associated with spectrum deconvolution. The method relies on a complex set of written standards which are not always fully understood by the average user. It uses non-transparent instrumentation and measurement processes. In short the method becomes, forgive the terminology, non-traceable to the user and this is, I believe, worse than non-traceable to SI units. 

Until the situation becomes clear, further development should be based, as it is now, on reference samples that are utilised in conjunction with a written standard for the extraction process to generate a well-known concentration of the analytes in aqueous solution. Temporarily, these will be have to be used as fit for purpose references for the subsequent analytical determination process. However, the design of selective extraction schemes may not reflect the actual distribution within a test sample [32],... 

For the reasons indicated it is not possible here to cover each material in detail and before going on to make some general observations about basic techniques for finishing one should emphasize that trials in advance with the actual substances to be worked usually are necessary. The testing should cover every aspect relevant to what is required of a component, and obviously it is helpful in this regard if reference can be made to a written Standard or specification. Tests may be of chemical behaviour, electrical, mechanical, physical, and thermal properties, or of some other aspect like performance when exposed to fire or to strong sunlight. The tests should be on samples that are representative of the production, should be appropriate for the parameters required, and be carried out under proper supervision. Reference samples and...
