Unique device identifier

Trade secret means any confidential formula, pattern, process, device, information or compilation of information (including chemical name or other unique chemical identifier) that is used in an employer s business, and that gives the employer an opportunity to obtain an advantage over competitors who do not know or use it. [Pg.457]

These properties are intrinsic to the molecular component, whether they are part of the device or not. Another way of saying this is that the interaction energy between the components of the supramolecular device must be small compared with other energy parameters relevant to the system. It does not matter, therefore, how the components are connected in the device (covalently, hydrogen bonded, coordination interaction, etc.) all that matters is that each component should contribute something unique and identifiable with that component alone, within the system. If this does not hold true, and the functionality of the system is identifiable with the molecule as a whole, as opposed to the individual parts, then the complex is best thought of as a Marge molecule" and is not supramolecular. [Pg.1407]

A Secure Memory Device works like a cryptographic dongle. Instead of being connected to an external interface, a secure memory device is already integrated as a module with in hardware design. In addition to internal memory, which also contains individual parameters or may have a unique chip identifier, these devices provide useful basic cryptographic functions for protection of the entire system (hardware and software) (Fig. 18.15). If a secure memory device is built stationary in a component, the protection of the whole product is improved. [Pg.547]

How does one identify a promising non-synthetic application for ionic liquid technology VJe basically expect that, in all non-synthetic, high value-adding applications, in which the application of an ionic liquid achieves some unique and superior performance of a technical device, ionic liquid technology may have a very good chance of quick and successful introduction. [Pg.351]

The liquid crystalline state may be identified as a distinct and unique state of matter which is characterised by properties which resemble those of both solids and liquids. It was first recognised in the middle of the last century through the study of nerve myelin and derivatives of cholesterol. The research in the area really gathered momentum, however, when as a result of the pioneering work of Gray in the early 1970 s organic compounds exhibiting liquid crystalline properties were shown to be suitable to form the basis of display devices in the electronic products. [Pg.267]

A. Small business assistance programs under Section 10 of the amendments (See PL 94-295). Both CDER and CDRH will identify any unique problems relating to medical device regulation for small business ... [Pg.86]

SGX uses two bar codes to track samples. The first identifier is the 2D bar code on the pin bases, which are used multiple times to moimt individual crystals. The second identifier, a ID bar code, is placed on the vials in which crystals are shipped to the beamline. This barcode is unique to the crystal and, imlike the base, is not reused. The device used to read the barcodes is shown in Fig. 12.3. This system requires that the 1D barcode, which links the physical crystal with its description in the database, constitutes part... [Pg.182]

UV curable flexo ink for RFID antennas Radio frequency identification (RFID) devices and contactless smart cards are capable of uniquely identifying an individual or object when they are interrogated by an external radio frequency signal. Recently, a process of printing with the use of UV curable conductive flexo inks has been introduced. The inks are based on polyfunctional acrylates with silver flakes added for the electrical conductivity. The advantages of these inks are ... [Pg.245]

By this time, scientists were studying light from as many sources as they could conjure. In 1822, the Scotsman David Brewster (1781-1868) invented a device that, by means of a flame, vaporized small amounts of material. The light from this vaporized material could then be smdied. He added 1,600 new spectral lines to those discovered by Fraunhofer and other investigators. During the same year, 1822, John Herschel (1792-1871), William Herschel s son, vaporized various metallic salts and established that the light from the flames could be used to detect the presence of these metals in very small samples. A few years later, William Talbot (1800-1877) showed that the spectrum of each of the chemical elements was unique and that it was possible to identify the chemical elements from their spectra. [Pg.22]

SCSI Acronym for small computer system interface. A high-speed, system-level parallel interface defined by the ANSI X3T9.2 committee. SCSI is used to connect a personal computer to several peripheral devices using just one port. Devices connected in this way are said to be daisy-chained together, and each device must have a unique identifier or priority number. [Pg.859]

The name and symbol come from Spanishplatina, meaning silver. Although this metal was used in pre-Columbian South America, it was identified by a European as a unique mineral in 1557 by Julius Caesar Scaliger (1484-1558). Platinum was described in 1745 by Antonio de Ulloa (1716-1795), but he was prevented from publishing until 1748. Charles Wood independently described the metal in 1741, but it was not identified as a new element until 1750, when it was studied by William Watson (1715-1787). Platinum is very rare and is extensively used as jewelry, but in recent years it has been increasingly used in the electronics industry and as a catalyst, both for scientific research and in commercial applications such as antipollution devices (catalytic converters) and hydrogen fuel cells. [Pg.121]

Spectroscope A laboratory instrument invented by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff in 1859. Using a colorless flame, the spectroscope first heats a sample of matter until it releases light. The light is passed through a prism to produce a spectrum. Each element has a unique set of spectral colors, so the device can be used to identify elements and elements in compounds. The spectroscope was also used to identify a number of previously unknown elements, such as helium. The spectroscope is still used today, and astronomical spectroscopes are used to identify stars and even to tell their age. Temperature A measurement of the heat energy in a substance. There are three main temperature scales used in the world Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Absolute (also called the Kelvin scale). [Pg.164]

At a minimum an electronic manifest within a set of samples must identify each sample uniquely and define the plate and well location. Individually labeled sample containers are essential for this purpose. 2D barcoded tubes are, as previously discussed, ideally suited to provide this functionality. In addition, to retrieve and store samples rapidly, modular devices from companies, such as TekCel (Massachusetts Hopkinton, AAA) or The Technology Partnership (Melbourn, UK), have become available, which may fit the medium storage requirements of pharmaceutical MS laboratories. In conjunction with... [Pg.517]
