In 2010 Cook Medical launched a new three-piece modular device with an 18 Fr hydrophilic braided sheath and a lower-profile polyester woven graft fabric. While it has received its CE mark in Europe, it is still going through clinical trials in the United States. The TX2 is Cook s thoracic stent-graft. It also comes in a low-profile (LP) iteration. 

The Fortevo device from Aptus capitalizes on Aptus experience with their endovascular Helifx anchoring device, which is similar to the helical tacks used to fix meshes in laparoscopic hernia repair. The Fortevo is a modular device made from nitinol stents and a woven polyester graft. This device uses separate endoanchors to secure the proximal fixation zone. 

The iodine laser can therefore be used as a modular device starting with a laser oscillator and ending up with an extremely fast T-jump source, which covers the complete time range between seconds and picoseconds.

Modular replacement the design is such that the faults repair is carried out on-line by replacement of modular devices with no degradation of the system functions other than those associated to the faulted equipment. This reduces the possibility of errors and the MTTR with a direct improvement of the system reliability.

Interfaces like IEEE-488, RS-232, and SCSI are designed for the interconnection of different stand-alone modules. These interfaces are also effectively used in transfer of measurement data from external data acquisition hardware to PC. IEEE-488 and SCSI interfaces enable networking of modular devices and transfer of data between all the devices on the network. 

The HTSS is used to test the effects of new chemicals on the behavior of adult mosquitoes, including contact irritancy, spatial repellency, and toxic actions.
