In the PCT examination process, national patent applications may be filed at the end of Chapter I (18 months from the home appHcation filing date), or at the end of Chapter II (30 months from the home appHcation filing date). If the examination of the U.S. home appHcation ends successfully before completion of the examination of the counterpart appHcation in PCT Chapter I, the PCT AppHcant may file national appHcations including the claims examined and allowed by the U.S. PTO without proceeding to PCT Chapter II processing. A brief timeline of patent appHcation examination under the PCT is provided in Table I.

The final plan schedule should be presented in whatever form you think is clearest a linear timeline, shown as Figure 5-8, for a single element and Figure 5-9 for the overall program, is one of the more common formats. Remember that your plan may call for multiple tasks to be undertaken simultaneously, which must be clearly indicated.

Schedule. Compare progress to date with timelines established in the implementation plan. 

Protocol. In 1997, prior to President Clinton s acceptance of the Kyoto Protocol, U.S. Senate Resolution 98, the Byrd-Hcgcl resolution, which was passed by a vote of ninety-five to zero, imposes specific requirements that must be met before the Kyoto Protocol can be ratified. The resolution calls for a specific timeline and commitments by developing countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and evidence that adoption of the Kyoto Protocol would not result in serious harm to the U.S. economy. Many events signaled the beginning of a lengthy transition period for the utility industry in general, and more specifically, for the facility planning activity. The timeline m many instances was blurred, with some of the blurring attributable to a reluctance to change.

Develop timetable for shutdown The management team should establish a macro-level schedule for the outage. Without complete planning, a definitive timeline can not be established, but the team should establish specific milestones that must be met. 

While this detailed schedule or timeline is essential, it does not replace or eliminate the need for complete planning of each task or a comprehensive work order package.
