Unexpected events

Possibility of unexpected events in data. Unless the inspection occurs in well controlled environment, there is always a possibility of occurrence of unexpected events in data. These can be caused e.g. by previously unseen type of damage. Amount of unexpected data is reduced if inspection is done periodically. An experienced operator can usually correctly interpret unexpected data, but some automatic classification systems may fail and raisclassify the data. 

Task analysis A method for determining the detailed performance required of people and equipment and determining the effects of the surroundings, malfunctions, and other unexpected events on both. 

A natural ex-plosion is also an uncontrolled and unexpected event. However, unlike an accidental c.xplosion it cannot be prevented. Some e.xamples of natural explosions include lightning and olcanic eniptions. Under the right critical conditions natural e.xplosions also trigger and cause accidental explosions.

Usually, experience of the past is used as the basis of failure scenarios, whereas one should look at a process each time again as if all unexpected events could occur. One has to keep in mind that accidents are often due to the highly unlikely coincidence or complex casual chains that seem improbable. It is necessary to examine all failure modes for all possible design alternatives in order to decrease the probability of an incident. 

Casual constraints the precedence or required sequence of tasks and resource requirements. There are unexpected events, failures, and/or events that have not been included in the scheduling program. Off-specification batches occasionally disturb the schedule.

Reactive scheduling is an online procedure which modifies nominal schedules in reaction to the occurrence of an unexpected event. Transferring a calibration to another spectrometer. Becanse the ability to use the master and slave simultaneously may not exist, the amount of nsefnl spectral information may be inadequate. Breakdown of the instrument or end of its service lifetime. Repairing or replacing an instrument may alter spectral responses if the instmments are not perfectly matched. Because this is an unexpected event, spectra recorded prior to the incident are rarely available.

Task Analysis— An analytical process for determining the specific behaviors required of the human components in a man-machine system. It involves determining the detailed performance required of people and equipment and the effects of environmental conditions, malfunctions, and other unexpected events on both. Within each task to be performed by people, behavioral steps are analyzed in terms of (i) the sensory signals and related perceptions, (ii) the decisions, memory storage, and other mental processes, and (iii) the required responses. 

Notice the difference between these two handwriting samples. The bouncy baseline and lack of structure translates into a more free spirited flexible personality with less rules. The top hand -writing sample is someone who can handle unexpected events with ease. He also tends to be more sloppy and have less discipline.. 

For medicines introduced recently - as indicated by an inverted black triangle (T) in the product entry in the British National Eormulary, MIMS and the ABPI Data Sheet Compendium - doctors and hospital pharmacists are asked to report all suspected reactions. This includes any adverse or any unexpected event, however minor, which could conceivably be attributed to the medicine. Reports should be made despite uncertainty about a cause or relationship, irrespective of whether or not the reaction is well recognised and even when other medicines have been taken concurrently. (The legal position for the pharmaceutical industry requires the reporting of aU serious ADRs from the UK or other EU countries, and of all serious and unexpected ADRs from coimtries outside the EU). 

Although it is necessary to propose potential solutions during these discussions, beware of settling on a final path too soon. Priorities change, unexpected events occur, and best guesses arc sometimes off the mark. For this reason, it is important to keep as many options open as is possible. 

Drug adverse events will always remain part of modern medicine and the potential for another thalidomide disaster cannot be totally dismissed. The prevention of a future disaster lies, not in simply increasing the number of regulatory hurdles but in the ability to communicate and control unexpected events and where necessary make rapid withdrawal from the market. 

J-lthough the alkali metals and the spectroscope aided greatly in revealing hidden elements, each new discovery was an unexpected event. The foregoing options, and what follows, relate only to the development aspects of a project. You should not allow concern for your own development to cause you to neglect such essential matters as orgeinizational purposes or how the project will impact on others. You also need to be prepared for contingencies. Unexpected events, people s reactions and views, changing circumstances, will need to be accommodated as the project unfolds.

One solution to such problems is provided by ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations (11,53-57). These are still very expensive, but they include dynamical aspects and they are thus one of the most powerful tools to investigate bioinorganic systems if many conformations and unexpected events play a role. A necessary prerequisite will always be that inexpensive electronic structure methods such as DFT can be applied to the bioinorganic system of interest.

First, no buyer will purchase a water treatment program unless he or she is convinced that the water treatment company (usually in the form of the field representative and perhaps local management as well) fully understands not only the current operational conditions but also the potentially dire consequences resulting from some unexpected event. Further, the buyer will need to see that the vendor has a viable water management program and a planned course of action for all eventualities. If sufficient background work has not been done, it is unlikely that a sale will take place.
