Performance demonstration

Based on a preliminary set of acceptance criteria s developed by LM Glasfiber a standard data-set has been developed for each of the above mentioned set-ups, in order to minimize the scanning time. During the performance demonstration at LM Glasfiber the effective scanning time for a complete 21m wind turbine rotor blade based on the preliminary acceptance criteria s, was found to be less than hour. 

After the performance demonstration a number of damaged rotor blades were scanned followed by a number of destructive verifications of the results achieved by ultrasonic scanning. Based on this examination it was concluded that the wind turbine rotor blade scanner is capable of detecting defects such as delaminations, inclusions, missing adhesion, lack of adhesive, porosities and variations in thickness. 

The aluminum alloys most commonly bonded are 2024 bare, 2024 clad and 7075 bare. Clad 7075 was also used extensively in early bonded structure but was largely abandoned after service performance demonstrated that it was susceptible to rapid dissolution or corrosion of the clad layer. Naturally aged tempers such as T3, in particular 2024-T3 because of its widespread use, are restricted to bonding with adhesives that cure at 250°F or below in order to avoid adversely affecting the temper. Various other alloys and tempers are bonded to a lesser extent, though the dominance of 7075 and 2024 is decreasing as higher-performance alloys and tempers are adopted.

Union, a 6 months extension of exclusivity may be granted if studies are performed demonstrating safety and efficacy in a paediatric population. In the European Union the problem of off-label use in paediatrics has been recognised by the Commission and a proposal is now in draft form to introduce new legislation in 2006. 

Flutamide was the first drug used in prostate cancer therapy for which the withdrawal syndrome was reported. In that study, 40% of patients showed a decline in prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels after cessation of flutamide from the therapeutic protocol. The decline in PSA levels was associated with an improvement of the clinical symptoms. Based on these paradoxical observations, the concept of sequenced androgen ablation was proposed [217]. Several phase II clinical studies were performed, demonstrating safety and tolerability, however, a direct comparison in randomised phase III trials is necessary [218]. 

To supplement laboratory tests, practical trials of this paint were made at the Navy Fire Fighter Schools at Norfolk, Va., and Boston, Mass. These trials were somewhat crudely conceived, as might be expected from the state of knowledge at that time, but the satisfactory performance demonstrated by the fire-retardant paint was sufficient, under the pressure of circumstances then existing, to warrant its adoption. Actual experience has amply demonstrated that it functions exceptionally well as a fire-retardant coating, but the same experience has equally shown the need for improvement in ease of cleaning. 

Performance demonstrates efforts to improve patient satisfaction, lower cost, and improve quality. 

The first experimental investigation and performance demonstration of an integrated liquid chromatography chip was carried out by Ocvirk et al. [84]. The results of calculations performed demonstrate the possibility of wide range variations of temperature conditions in the reaction cells of high pressure and temperature apparatuses while employing heating devices of different design. The results obtained may be useful for development of heating schemes for apparatuses of different types because of general character of dependencies revealed. 

The usefulness of a methodology manual is in no small way directly related to the reliability of methods described. It is therefore preferable that methods selected for inclusion therein be tested and satisfactory performance demonstrated.
