Standards drafting

Figure 2 represents the main view of the model, including all the objects and relationships, the detailed definition of which is given in the standard draft ( 8.2.1 - cf table I). fhe object groups of figure 1 have also been represented on figure 2, for an easier comprehension. This main view is common to all the NDT methods. [Pg.926]

The particularity of each method comes in fact from the "device" object. A "device" is an element of a NDT equipment. The standard aims to define standard "device" objects for the considered 8 NDT methods this is the purpose of chapter 8.3. Nonetheless, the standard draft intends to be open to new teclmiques or to the evolution of conventional techniques, and the possibility is given to define "non-standard devices , under restrictions which are given in the document ("general rules for compliance"). [Pg.926]

Finally, the standard draft provides a detailed model of the acquisition data, which intends to describe all the possible shapes which can be taken by NDE data OD (scalar or complex), ID (sampled - cf ultrasonics A-scans - or unsampled - ef ultrasonics time/amplitude data), 2D (images) or 3D (volumes). [Pg.926]

A British Standards draft for development has been developed which defines a test procedure to determine the potential of metals to contaminate drinking water in contravention of the requirements of the EC Directive. Although primarily meant for new materials, traditional plumbing alloys will also have to be shown to be satisfactory. [Pg.361]

These considerations are not yet implemented in the Basic Standards for Organic Production and Processing of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements and have only appeared as draft standards for 2002-2005 (see http //www.ifoam.org/about ifoam/ standards/norms/draft standards/draft standards.html). [Pg.135]

Reviewers have several responsibilities and a few options. They should approach a standards draft review with a review plan. They need to pass on to the appropriate people in their organization what they learn from the draft status data and from the draft itself. They may have the requirement or desire to provide feedback to the developers. And they may choose to pass on their review result to others that will be affected, perhaps negatively, if the unchanged draft becomes a standard. [Pg.37]

Some of the information in this paper was prepared for and taken from a US NIST project in process, an IT Security Standards and Guidelines Roadmap. For more details on becoming a standards draft reviewer and in fact on all levels of involvement in the development processes, please refer to the NIST document once it becomes available. It is also recommended that the NIST document be referenced for descriptions of types of SDO s, for SDO methods and processes, for SDO membership requirements, and for an overview of salient standards and guidelines important to IT Security. [Pg.40]

The benefits of standards draft reviews are high. The costs of such reviews are low. More organizations should become reviewers to their own benefit. [Pg.41]

Unfortunately, the committee decided not to take into account in-depth considerations on security in the new standard draft. The security issue was delegated to another committee of SC65, to SC65C, WG 13, Digital Communications, Cyber Security (9), and the chairman of JTT4 became member of this committee. Unfortunately, this committee was not at all interested in safety, only in communications and cyber security. Here again, both worlds kept themselves separated ... [Pg.168]

The 1998 PIRC survey found that approximately 25% of the FTSE 350 companies reported on community matters in their annual report. Just under 10% provided standalone social or community reports on community involvement. The 1999 UNEP/ SustainAbility survey of social reporting identified over 30 companies providing some form of social report. As most of the pioneer work and standard drafting has been carried out in the UK and the USA, it came as no surprise to find that 50% of these social reports were produced in these two countries. [Pg.70]

This clause lists a number of other standard methods essential for the application of the standard. Draft International Standards may also be cited in the list. All other documents, for instance any used for the development of the standard, m be listed in an informative bibliography (ISO, 1998a). [Pg.27]

The increase of number, complexity and interaction of electric and electronic systems in a vehicle, bears growing challenges for development activities in the automotive domain. Besides the decreasing development time, the increasing distribution of functions and their computing control system, the draft international standard for functional safety of road vehicles ISO/DIS 26262 (International Organization for Standardization / Draft International Standard 26262) requires attention. Automotive systems demand safety and reliability, which results in consideration of safety requirements with the same level of priority as the functional requirements of the system to develop [1]. [Pg.179]

The work of WG 2 on reference materials has been slower, since any such ISO standards must be based on the application of existing reference materials. It should be noted that ISO does not itself develop new reference materials. Also, the documentary standards drafted in subcommittee 2 should in principle define the application of reference materials used by two or more surface analytical techniques. Given that such reference materials tend to be technique specific, the progress of this particular working group has been somewhat limited. [Pg.917]
