Sampling tender

To be effective, this method must be carried out on samples which have been blanched, and upon peas from which the skins have been removed. The heat applied in blanching drives off gases entrapped in the tissues, and removal of the skins is required to remove air that may be entrapped under them, although it materially slows up the operation and makes it very tedious. In order that there may be consistency in grading, the test must be conducted under closely standardized conditions of temperature and solution concentration. This becomes of considerable importance in borderline cases, and failure to take it into consideration no doubt accounts for some of the inconsistency in results experienced by the industry. The test is not a true measure of tenderness, in that it accounts for variation in skin texture only in so far as maturity affects skin texture. Skin texture is affected by factors other than maturity (4). Other methods for the estimation of maturity based upon density or specific gravity have been suggested by Jodidi (16) and by Lee (22). 

In particular it can be shown that the dynamic flocculation model of stress softening and hysteresis fulfils a plausibility criterion, important, e.g., for finite element (FE) apphcations. Accordingly, any deformation mode can be predicted based solely on uniaxial stress-strain measurements, which can be carried out relatively easily. From the simulations of stress-strain cycles at medium and large strain it can be concluded that the model of cluster breakdown and reaggregation for prestrained samples represents a fundamental micromechanical basis for the description of nonlinear viscoelasticity of filler-reinforced rubbers. Thereby, the mechanisms of energy storage and dissipation are traced back to the elastic response of tender but fragile filler clusters [24]. 

Physical examination elderly man is not in acute distress. His oral temperature is 31.TC (100.1°F) blood pressure is 110/70 and heart rate is 90/minute. His prostate gland was enlarged and very tender, consistent with acute prostatitis. His routine blood work and liver function test findings were within normal limits. A urine sample was sent for analysis and cultures ciprofloxacin 750 mg twice a day was started. 

A pressure method for measuring meat tenderness has been described by Sperring et al. (1959). A sample of raw meat is contained in a cylinder that has a small hole in its bottom. A hydraulic press forces a plunger into the cylinder, and the pressure required to squeeze the meat through the hole is taken as a measure of tenderness. 

A portable rotating knife tenderometer has been described by Bjorksten et al. (1967). A rotating blunt knife is forced into the meat sample, and a tracing of the area traversed by a recording pen is used as a measure of tenderness. 

Examination showed that her lower abdomen was a little distended and very tender, but there were no other abnormalities. Her blood pressure was low at 102/70 mmHg and her temperature slightly raised at 38.5 °C. A blood sample showed normal haemoglobin and red cell number, but a raised white blood cell count. No intestinal obstruction showed on an X-ray of her abdomen. In view of her symptoms and age, a provisional diagnosis of diverticulitis was made. 

There are disadvantages to this method, however. It requires that the infrared analyzer, function generator, and integrator operate at the limits of their sensitivity. For an organic carbon content of 2 mg carbon/1., a 0.1-ml sample would contain only 0.2 /xg carbon. A precision of 10% would require the instruments to read to the nearest 0.02 /xg carbon. The actual precision was somewhat better than 10%, but it was achieved at the cost of large amounts of tender, loving care. This instrument is basically a one-man device and could not, in its present form, become a standard laboratory machine. 

A 21-year-old female presents to the physician s office with complaints of very painfnl vnlvar ulcers. The patient states she has had the symptoms for approximately 3 days, and they are worsening. She says that prior to the ulcerations, there was a burning and tingling sensation of the skin in the same area. She has noted similar symptoms like this before and has been told it is sexually transmitted. On examination you see multiple extremely tender, vesicular (blisterlike) lesions on an erythematous (red) base on both labia majora of the vulva. She has a moderate amount of tender inguinal lymph nodes bilaterally. The physician uses a swab to sample the ulcer and send it off for diagnostic analysis.

The proposed method shows feasibility to the detection of the two auxins in acacia tender leaves, buds, and bean sprout and the detection limits (S/N = 3) were 2.5 and 2.8 nM for indole-3-acetic acid (lAA) and indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), respectively. The proposed method was applied effectively to the detection of the two auxins in real samples [70]. 

Installation of the leak monitoring system must be integrated into the liner construction technology. The manufacturer s installation procedure must be adapted to these conditions. In the appendix of the recommendation document, the AK DKS Working Committee has published sample drafts for the additional technical contract conditions and the performance list for an invitation to tender for leak monitoring systems plus a quality assurance plan for their installation. Collection of undisturbed discrete surface seawater samples from research vessels is not possible. To leave the contaminated water plume of the main vessel and to approach closer to the sea surface, suitable small tenders have to be used. Sampling is performed from the lee-side of the tender, >200m up-wind from the ship in an area not previously passed by any vessel. During sampling, the tender may be moved slowly at right angles to the direction of the prevailing surface currents.
