Large strain

In order to confirm efficacy against field strains, large chamber free-flying tests were conducted against C. quinquefasciatus collected in Bogor, Indonesia. The results are shown in Table 4. Since field strains of mosquitoes tend to have longer... [Pg.207]

A seamless felt straining bag is illustrated. A strainer of this kind is particularly useful for straining large quantities of syrups or liquid extracts. When in use it is suspended by means of tapes over a suitable receiver, or is supported by a frame, as is shown in the figure. [Pg.387]

Stresses can also arise from differential expansion where pol5uner is attached to metal or wood. A typical thermal expansion coefficient for a plastic is about 1 x 10 V°C for a metal it is 2 x 10 /°C and for glasses it is lower still. This means that a 150°C temperature change on cooling from the solidification temperature can result in a strain large enough to cause eventual fracture (qv) if the plastic does not creep to relieve it (see Viscoelasticity). [Pg.2095]

Twenty straight chain hydrocarbons have been so far identified on analysis of samples chiefly collected from freshwater lakes and of laboratory grown strains. As shown in Table 2 which describes the results corresponding to three cultivated strains, large variations can occur in both the nature and the relative abundance of these hydrocarbons. [Pg.13]

The following sections describe its preparation the birefringence behavior the uniaxial response arranged in sequence small strain, large strain and ultimate properties swelling behavior and some aspects of the multiaxial response. [Pg.221]
