Contracts procurement

Submit bids on procurement contracts to take into account profit, competitors bids, and operating constraints. [Pg.223]

In analogy to the demand side, procurement contracts are fixed by quantity and price with the objective to ensure a basis volume of raw materials. Spot procurement supports company s flexibility requirements and the company can decide the spot procurement quantity with certain flexibility around the offered quantity. Price levels for contracts and spot business differ and are volatile in each period. Typically, companies operate with few key strategic suppliers for a respective product or raw material. Therefore, price-quantity models like in sales planning are less applicable. More often is the case that specifically commodity-type raw materials are procured on many-to-many exchanges, which is out of the scope in our case as described in section 3.2.6. If products are supplied by internal business units, transfer prices are applied following the contract procurement principles. [Pg.121]

Input data are the starting material costs cv and product values cl v for all product-location combinations / ,/ e Ivcl in the starting period tx e T. These initial values are given in the location-specific currency. In addition, the latest procurement contract offer prices for c u / p,l e IB2, teTare used as raw material value basis across all periods. All other values are determined in the calculation as illustrated in fig. 58. [Pg.154]

Procurement is also differentiated into spot and contract q f and cBpl are monthly procurement contract offer quantities and cost rates, qBslt and cfIt are the respective spot offers / p,l eIB2, teT. While contract procurement has to be executed as agreed, spot procurement is flexible defined by minimum and maximum quantity share boundaries RBy" and... [Pg.204]

Much of the relevant literature deals with defense procurement contracts (Rogerson 1994). Many of the characteristics of defense procurement also potentially apply to vaccines, including the role of the government as a major purchaser, uncertainty of outcomes, economies of scale, and the importance of innovation. [Pg.122]

The Chemical Corps ended the Korean War in a much stronger position than it faced after the end of World War II. The corps reduced its units and manpower somewhat, and terminated many of its procurement contracts in the months following the 1953 armistice. Still, Major General Egbert F. Bullene, the new Chief Chemical Officer summed up the feeling of the corps about the Korean War and the Cold War in general Today, thanks to Joe Stalin, we are back in business. 125(p8)... [Pg.48]

The process of transition entailed plant conversions and expansions, and the establishment of on-site shell-filling stations. The Government subsidized some, but not enough to satisfy the firms - which complained that the Ordnance Department set prices that were too low. Procurement contracts were irregular, and it was difficult to avoid bottlenecks and maintain production. ... [Pg.11]

As this edition is published, the current MIL-STD-882 is the D version and, therefore, discussion of that approach to system safety implementation follows. The D version responds to changes in the defense acquisition procedures and is no longer the source for safety-related data item descriptions (the formal detailed requirements associated with defense procurement contracts). Therefore, for several reasons, the more detailed methods of implementation of previous versions of the military standard are retained because they are still valid. This is for two reasons. First, there are some government contracts with very long periods of performance or those that have been renewed multiple times that still refer to the earlier standard version. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the implementation method of the previous versions provides a guide for implementation of the newer standard practice. ... [Pg.25]

There have been a number of applications of the revelation principle in the supply chain literature e.g., Chen (2001) studies auction design in the context of supplier procurement contracts Corbett (2001) studies inventory contract design Baiman et al. (2003) study procurement of quality in a supply chain. [Pg.57]

This cost is representative of what to expect in the future, for fuel procurement contracts being contracted with the above-mentioned economic conditions. Much of the fuel being used currently was purchased when the cost of uranium was 10/pound of U3O8, about 25% of the average price in 2007. The enrichment prices when the fuel was enriched were nominally in the range of 80 to 100/SWU. These two factors alone would reduce the price of the fuel assembly to 1.05 million, reducing the fuel cost to (0.56 + 0.1) = 0.66 cent/kWh. [Pg.877]

The essence of workplace safety and health should not rest upon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, as they should not be the driving forces behind workplace safety and health. OSHA has limited resources for inspection and a limited number of inspectors. Enforcement is usually based on serious complaints, catastrophic events, and workplace deaths. Employers with a good safety and health program and a good safety record have a better opportunity of procuring contracts and orders because of their workplace safety and health record, and reap the benefits of low insurance premiums for workers compensation and liability. Usually, safety and health are linked to the bottom line, which is seldom perceived as humanitarian. [Pg.289]

Avoid bringing hazards into the workplace—by incorporating safety and health design and material specifications in procurement contracts for facilities, equipment, and materials. [Pg.12]

China has seen the existence of wetmarkets for hundreds years (Peng and Xiao, 2000). The activities of these traditional markets were restricted in the mid 1950s and even subject to closure in the early 1960s, when procurement products could only be sold to the government and not to private buyers. Only after 1978, wet markets were open again. After 1985, extra products other than procurement contracts could be traded directly on the markets, which boosted the revival of traditional markets in rural and urban areas. National statistics show a static situation in rural... [Pg.223]

Supply chain contracts can be of three types cost-plus, fixed price, and incentive-contract (Bolton and Dewatripoint 2004). Many procurement contracts are in fact a combination of the three, specifying incentives on some aspects and fixed-price on others. The contracting environment determines how contracts should be combined. While a contract is a convenient way of moderating partner behavior, it is of little value without a mechanism for monitoring conformance. [Pg.114]

Procurement contracts in a contemporary supply chain, as discussed in Chap. 4, can be of three types cost-plus, fixed price, and incentive (Bolton and Dewatripont 2004). [Pg.252]

Only procurement contracts (including purchase orders) that are to be performed in whole or in part in the United States are subject to the Act. The contract must be for at least 25,000 before the employer will be required to make a certification. A contractor or grantee will not be required to make a certification for any contract received prior to March 18, 1989. If, however, an existing contract is significantly altered, a contractor will need to make a certification. [Pg.638]
