Press power

Maintenance embraces regular inspection, periodic examination by competent persons , and repairs. Accidents may arise as a result of the lack of maintenance, during maintenance, and as a consequence of faulty maintenance. Preventive maintenance can be a legal requirement for, e.g., pressure vessels/boilers, lifting gear, power presses. A system is required for monitoring compliance witli scheduled preventive maintenance programmes, backed up by in-service inspection. Breakdown... [Pg.413]

By Expression.—This method is adapted only for those substances which are very rich in essential oil as examples, the rinds of the lemon, orange, citron, and some other fruits. The chief implement is a powerful press. The material Is either inclosed in hair bags, or a tinned metal box—Fig, 391— FJs.asi, resting upon the bottom of the press. The box must be lined with a perforated cylinder—Fig, 392—having perpendicular ribs ou the exterior Circumference. These latter, projecting against the inner sides of the box, form Fig.eess. channels by which the flow of... [Pg.671]

The USDA published what may have been the first practical procedure for quickly determining if a truckload of seed is a linoleic or oleic variety (138). It involves squeezing a few seeds in a small hand-powered press to obtain a few drops of oil. A drop of oil is placed on the glass prism cell of a hand-held refractometer. The refractive index has a straight-line relationship with the iodine value or fatty acid distribution of the oil, hence it is easy to determine if the seed in question meets an oleic standard or not, so long as a temperature correction is applied. Recently, it has become simpler to compare the unknown sample to a known oil standard, eliminating the need to apply a temperature correction. Temperature corrections are difficult to measure accurately in the field under the time pressure of harvest. [Pg.1159]

Bruise tho leaves in a marble mortar (on the largo scale, in a mill), and Rubmit thorn to the action of a powerful press allow the juice to remain for 24 hours m a cold place, then decant the clear portion, add i part by measure of spirit (90 per cent.b agitate, and in 24 hours again decant the clear, and filter it through paper. Keeps well under ordinary circumstances. [Pg.229]

In 1797, Joseph Barmah patented the first extrusion process for making lead pipes. The metal used to be preheated and ram was hand-driven. In 1820, Thomas Burr built the first hydraulic power press that was to extrude lead pipes (Sheppard 2013). The process was called squirting. By the end of nineteenth century, the extmsion methods were also in use for copper and brass alloys. Alexander Dick invented a hot extrusion process for nonferrous metals in 1894. North America has its first aluminum extrusion process in 1904. In 1950s, Sejounet introduced molten glass as lubricant in extmsion process. [Pg.110]

Cold press molding represent compression molding that involves only a moderate investment in equipment and using a lower-powered press than with large series processes. Molds can be made from RP materials rather than from high-quality steel. The reinforcement is generally mat which can be preformed if necessary fabric can also be used. Molds can be at ambient temperature or heated to 80C (176F). Cold press... [Pg.280]

The Regulations require risks to people s health and safety from equipment they use at work to be prevented or controlled. Although power presses are included as woric equipment, part IV of PUWER contains specific requirements for power presses and is dealt with in Chapter 16. In addition to the requirements of PUWER, lifting equipment is also subject to the requirements of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998. [Pg.8]

Work equipment has wide meaning, and generally, any equipment which is used by an employee at work is covered, e.g. hammers, ladders, drilling machines, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including lifts), dumper trucks and motor vehicles. [Pg.8]
