When water-wet gas expands rapidly through a valve, orifice or other restriction, hydrates form due to rapid gas cooling caused by adiabatic (Joule-Thomson) expansion. Hydrate formation with rapid expansion from a wet line commonly occurs in fuel gas or instrument gas lines. Hydrate formation with high pressure drops can occur in well testing, start-up, and gas lift operations, even when the initial temperature is high, if the pressure drop is very large. [Pg.651]

The Regulations require risks to people s health and safety from equipment they use at work to be prevented or controlled. Although power presses are included as woric equipment, part IV of PUWER contains specific requirements for power presses and is dealt with in Chapter 16. In addition to the requirements of PUWER, lifting equipment is also subject to the requirements of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998. [Pg.8]

The development of good handling techniques is no substitute for the risk reduction steps already outlined but is an important addition which requires training and practice. The following should form the basic lifting operation. [Pg.315]

There are a range of safety rules to observe when carrying out any lifting operation. [Pg.324]

It is well known that flocculation of asphaltenes in petroleum reservoirs, wells and surface separation-upgrading facilities pose technical problems and increase the cost of production and processing of crudes. Field conditions conducive to precipitation of asphaltenes include natural depletion, miscible flooding, caustic flooding, acid stimulation and gas-lift operations. Asphaltene precipitation is particularly important problem in miscible flooding since it can reduce permeability, affect well injectivities and productivities, alter rock wettability characteristics and even cause plugging of producing wells. ... [Pg.5]

In the list above, the committee developed what it judges to be among the more expected, or typical, hazards of a wind farm project life cycle. Many of these hazards— such as confined space entry, crane and lifting operations, electrical injury, working at heights, fire protection, human factors safety issues, and slips and trips—are common to land-based wind farms and are addressed by federal regulations and industry consensus standards, examples of which are included in Table 4-1. The... [Pg.89]
