The plastic film with interconnection layers, denoted (2) in Fig. 16.1, can be made by a process similar to that used to manufacture flexible circuit boards. First, plastic films coated with copper foil are processed by a numerically controlled (NC) drilling machine to make via holes. Plating is then used to make interconnections between top and bottom sides though via holes. Finally, the copper layers are patterned by conventional photolithography and etching. Gold plating is occasionally employed to improve electronic interconnections. 

Both films with organic FETs and photodiodes are transferred to the vacuum chamber without exposure to air after the manufacturing process and uniformly coated with a 2 pm poly(monochloro-para-xylylene) (parylene) passivation layer. Spots of parylene on electrodes are removed by a CO2-laser drilling machine for... 

The material can be tooled with diamond saws and ultrasonic drilling machines... 

Equipment failure is another cause of electrical shock. Some examples include leakage in washing machines, electrical irons, water pumps, broken energized power lines, grinding, and drilling machines. The equipment must he grounded with three wire cables. 

Drilled holes are required in the manufacture of almost every product and drilling is one of the most common machining operations. Drilling machines are similar in construction to milling machines except they are used exclusively for making holes. 

Turret drilling machines provide a number of tools mounted in a turret designed to handle a sequence of operations. The turret drilling machine is also available as a computer numerically controlled machine.

Lasers may replace drilling machines in dentistry to achieve a more controlled material removal. Minimization of pain at the patient s side, usually caused by vibration and friction heat, could be another advantage of this approach. The transistor film is then mechanically processed by a numerically controlled (NC) cutting plotter or drilling machine to form the net-shaped structures, as shown in Figure 6.3.8. In a similar way, a pressure-sensitive rubber sheet and a copper electrode suspended by a polyimide film are cut separately to form net-shaped structures. These two films are laminated on the top of the transistor fihn to complete the pressure sensor network. The periodicity is 4 mm, and the width of the struts is 0.3-0.5 mm. 

This type of equipment has two levels of insulation. The first level may be considered as being equivalent to that of Class 1 equipment. The first level is then completely surrounded by a second level of insulation so that no contact can be made between the phase conductors and the outer frame. Hence the protective device at the source of supply need not be involved in circuit disconnection when the first level insulation fails. This type of equipment is sometimes referred to as double insulation or doubly insulated equipment e.g. hand-held domestic electric drilling machines. This type of equipment is not considered in the following discussions and calculations. See also BS7430. 

Hand-held equipments are usually light-weight tools such as drilling machines, sanding machines etc., that are held in one or both hands.

An electronic panel drilling machine was difficult to operate. A study indicated that workers had to bend and reach to perform tasks, and operator comfort, product quality, and performance suffered. As a result of the study, new machines designed for better body mechanics were acquired. In the first year, labor costs were reduced by 270,000 and yield increased 420,000. Productivity was improved. Injuries were reduced. 

Work equipment has wide meaning, and generally, any equipment which is used by an employee at work is covered, e.g. hammers, ladders, drilling machines, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including lifts), dumper trucks and motor vehicles. 

The main elements of a typical sensitive drilling machine are shown in Fig. 8.1.
