Dumper trucks

Work equipment has wide meaning, and generally, any equipment which is used by an employee at work is covered, e.g. hammers, ladders, drilling machines, power presses, circular saws, photocopiers, lifting equipment (including lifts), dumper trucks and motor vehicles. [Pg.8]

Many different kinds of vehicle are used in the workplace, including dumper trucks, heavy goods vehicles, all terrain vehicles and, perhaps the most common, the fork lift truck. Approximately 70 persons are killed annually following vehicle accidents in the workplace. There are also over 1000 major accidents (involving serious fractures, head injuries and amputations) caused by ... [Pg.178]

Many of the hazards and controls required for vehicle movements on construction sites have been covered earlier in this chapter. Common vehicles found on construction sites include site dumper trucks, fork lift trucks with telescopic handlers, all terrain and rough terrain vehicles, excavators and tipper lorries. On larger construction sites various types of earth moving equipment may also be used. [Pg.181]

In construction work, there are many different types of vehicles and plant used to lift and move loads. These include excavators, telehandlers, rough-terrain vehicles, dumper trucks and hoists, all of which are covered in more detail elsewhere in this book (Chapters 8, 9, 11 and 12). [Pg.224]

Another of these pieces of plant will be discussed in a little more detail here (see Figure 13.12). The small dumper truck is widely used on all sizes of construction site. Compact dumper trucks are involved in about... [Pg.224]

Outline the hazards associated with small dumper trucks. [Pg.230]

Identify the items on a small dumper truck that should be the subject of such an inspection. [Pg.230]

Similarly, when asked to outline the hazards associated with small dumper trucks some candidates lost marks by listing. Outline indicates that the question requires the candidate to give the most important features of an item, rather than merely listing it. [Pg.491]

Chip trucks arriving at the power plant are weighed and then unloaded by hydraulic truck dumpers. Chips flow by gravity from the trucks into live-bottom receiving hoppers and from there, onto inclined belt conveyors which transport the chips to storage. A mechanical-belt pile-builder distributes the chips evenly around the perimeter of the storage pile. A disk... [Pg.474]

Moving object. May be prompted by elevators, ramps, road vehicles (tankers, articulated lorries), dumpers, fork-lift trucks, stackers, cranes, rail wagons, or robots. Immediate consequence physical injury to personnel or damage to equipment. [Pg.194]
