The technical tests required for cinnabar and vermilion are more particularly those of the quality and intensity of the colour, the covering power, fineness, stability towards light and behaviour towards other pigments (white lead, zinc white) these are carried out by the general methods already indicated. Arc furnaces are operated in conjunction with large capacitor banks and harmonic filters to improve the power factor and also to filter the harmonic frequency currents so they do not unduly affect other power users sharing the same power fines. Red Phosphorus. This aHotropic form of phosphoms is relatively nontoxic and, unlike white phosphoms, is not spontaneously flammable. Red phosphoms is, however, easily ignited.
