The emphasis on presentation in many of the original tags (such as fonts, colors, and layout) muddled the separation of content from style. The World Wide Web Consortium soon developed technologies (CSS, or cascading style sheets, and XSL, or extensible stylesheet language more information on this and other XML issues is available at http //www.w3c. org/) to help overcome this problem, but as with HTML, CSS is variably implemented in most browsers. Most commercial tools for authoring HTML emphasize presentation or interactivity (to capture the reader s attention), and in such HTML, the content is subservient to the style. [Pg.90]

According to some reports, Libya had decided in principle to join the CWC as early as 2001. It is also noteworthy that Libya had maintained contact with the OPCW and followed its decision-making on implementation issues since the very beginning of the preparatory work in 1993, which is very different from some other Arab countries, such as Egypt or Syria, that approached the CWC primarily in the context of the conflict with Israel. [Pg.42]

Another national implementation issue raised was that a number of States Parties have tended to focus exclusively on specific CWC obligations, and have not developed legislation relevant to the more general requirements of the CWC, such as those in Article I, which embodies the prohibition on chemical weapons. Important in this regard is implementation of the general-purpose definition of chemical weapons, which recognizes that, in addition to the chemicals listed in the CWC Schedules, other toxic chemicals could be used as chemical weapons, either as part... [Pg.51]

The final question asks about the validity of the conclusions drawn by the study authors. Were the conclusions based on some overall index or ratio of costs to consequences, and was the index was interpreted intelligently Did the study authors provide benchmarks to aid in the interpretation of the study, and was the robustness of the conclusions discussed in light of results of the sensitivity and/or statistical analyses Was subgroup analysis undertaken where relevant Were the results compared to those of others who have investigated the same question Were the limitations of the study and the generalisability of the results discussed Were other relevant factors in the decision to adopt the intervention discussed (for example distribution, ethics) And finally, did the authors discuss implementation issues ... [Pg.757]

There are several other important issues in the choice of discretization of the material volume in the software implementation, that is, the choice of mesh and element size and element type (linear, quadratic, 3-D, shell, etc.). Numerical solvers approximate the temperature field over the volume, constrained by both boundary conditions and type of meshed representation used. Figure 10.2(b) shows a typical finite ele-... [Pg.191]

In the remainder of this chapter, we first provide a more detailed discussion of JIT/TPS in Section 2, including its philosophy and implementation issues. In Section 3, we examine the kanban system, widely used in JIT for control of production and inventory, and present a case study of JIT/kanban implementation. Section 4 follows with an examination of JIT s relation to complementary approaches such as total quality management (TQM) and total productive maintenance (TPM), together with a case study of their joint implementation. In Section 5, we examine lean production as an extension of JIT, explore the relationship of JIT to theory of constraints (TOC), and conclude with a brief consideration of applications to service industries of JIT, TOC, and other manufacturing-based approaches. [Pg.545]

Directives Had the appropriate directives or other implementing documents been issued to support the safety program and implement the safety policy Were they adequate Were they distributed to the proper levels of the organization ... [Pg.245]

Implementation workspaces enable students to build or develop small, medium, and large systems including, for example, mechanical or electronic software components, or new chemical processes. Typical equipment includes hand tools and instruments, measurement and manufacturing equipment, and computers for integration of software. The range of smdent projects calls for a great deal of flexibility. Safety and accessibility are other critical issues. [Pg.134]

Develop written schedules of inspections and maintenance of all electrical equipment. Operating room personnel should receive annual training on bloodborne pathogens and other safety issues. Implement policies and procedures for sharps injury reporting. OSHA requires an appropriate sharps safety plan that includes the evaluation and selection of safer sharps and needles. Operating... [Pg.293]

A difficult issue with CoMFA entails electrostatic fields calculated inside a particular molecule, because very small changes in location of a lattice point can make a dramatic difference in the potential. Keep in mind that the receptor could not occupy this position. In the default setting in SYBYL CoMFA, any electrostatic energy inside a molecule is assigned to the mean of the noncutoff values of molecules for which this point is outside the molecule. In other implementations, the electrostatic energies are calculated only outside the union volume of the superimposed molecules.[n some CoMFA studies, however, better results were achieved without any steric-based deletion of electrostatic descriptors.20.21... [Pg.208]

ABSTRACT The paper presents an application of the probabilistic analysis of structural resistance of the containment of a VVER 440/213. The evaluation is based on an extension of the smeared crack model developed on the basis of Kupfer s bidimensional failure criterion and implemented into ANSYS. The non-linear analysis is considered for the median values of the input data and the probabilistic analysis models the uncertainties of loads, material resistance and other modeling issues. Results show that the effects of thermal load are relevant mainly for the bubble condenser and at the interface between the floor of hermetic zone and the rooms beneath. A comparison of the performance of linear and non-linear analyses is also reported. [Pg.2279]
