Obstruction definition

In accordance with the RP 500 definition, any shelter having more obstruction to air passage than a roof and one wall closed limit is considered to have restricted ventilation and is classified Division 1. 

One definition of post-operative paralytic ileus is the failure of the patient to pass faeces or flatus within 60 hr. of the termination of a surgical abdominal operation . A somewhat similar condition may arise in cases of gross mechanical obstruction of the gut. It is well known also that operations involving handling of the gut or the peritoneum are especially liable to cause paralytic ileus. Peritonitis and post-operative pain, inadequately treated with morphia, also precipitate paralytic ileus. Pneumonia, meningitis and typhoid predispose to paralytic ileus, whilst severe hypothyroidism can also be complicated by a paralytic ileus. 

Definition and causes of jaundice Jaundice (icterus) refers to the yellow color of the skin, nail beds, and sclerae caused by deposition of bilirubin, secondary to increased bilirubin levels in the blood. There are three major forms of jaundice hemolytic jaundice, caused by massive lysis of red blood cells, releasing more heme than can be handled by the reticuloendothelial system obstructive jaundice, resulting from obstruction of the bile duct and hepatocellular jaundice, caused by damage to liver cells that decreases the liver s ability to take up and conjugate bilirubin. In addition, neonatal jaundice is caused by the low activity of hepatic glucuronylation of bilirubin, especially in premature infants. 

Of the evolutionary road system proposed by Schild and Maeder (1984) the WN7->WC4-8 trail is accessible in Fig.l. but there is an obstruction in their WN5-6->WC9->WO trail. Fig. 1 allows the transition from WN6 to WC9. but definitely not the transition from WN5 to WC9. as was already visible in the results of Hidayat et al. (1982. Paper I). In addition, the transition from WC9 to WO appears also excluded ... 

Those sequences correspond to vertex sequences, i.e. a path in the (r, )-polycycle P. Locally, there is no obstruction to the coherence of the definition of boundary vertex there is no problem, and around an interior vertex, the condition of having degree q provides coherence. Also, if we consider flags around a face /, we do not encounter coherence problems. The simple connectedness of P allows us to modify the path P" into the path P by changing around faces and vertices. So, no ambiguity will appear. ...

However, a dictionary definition of fouling includes to obstruct (with foreign matter), to entangle, to impede, while a foulant is described as fetid, stinking, and putrid. Thus the definition of foulant should, of necessity, include matter of microbiological origin, plus its degradation products.

Another flow meter is the nutating disk meter. This is widely used to measure the amount of water used in domestic as well as commercial consumption. It has only one moving element and is relatively inexpensive but accurate. This element is a disk. As the water enters the meter, the disk nutates (wobbles). A complete cycle of nutation corresponds to a volume of flow that passes through the disk. Thus, so much of this cycle corresponds to so much volume of flow which can be directly calibrated into a volume readout. A cycle of nutation corresponds to a definite volume of flow, so this flow meter is called a volume flow meter. Nutating disk meters are intrusive meters, because they obstruct the flow of the liquid. 

In summary, H bonding definitely affects viscosity, increasing it in mixtures where H bonds occur. Drawing fundamental and quantitative information from viscosity measurements is obstructed by the same formidable complications that make any theoretical treatment of the liquid state a difficult task. 

If definitive clarification of cholestasis has still not been reached (even with MRC imaging), dilated bile ducts indicate an ERC or, if this is technically impossible, a PTC. The diagnostic sensitivity is 60-70%, the specificity 90-95 (-100)%. The ERC should also be used to visualize non-dilated bile ducts by means of direct presentation - e.g. in cases with suspicion of destructive primary biliary or sclerosing cholangitis as well as regionally restricted intrahepatic obstruction, (s. figs. 8.12, 8.13) (s. tab. 13.9)... 

Anaphylactic shock has been described after intranasal hydrocortisone acetate, intramuscular methylprednisolone (SEDA-21, 419) (251), intravenous methylprednisolone (SEDA-22, 448) (252), intramuscular dexamethasone (SEDA-22, 448) (253), and intra-articular methylprednisolone (SEDA-22, 449) (254). A life-threatening anaphylac-tic-like reaction to intravenous hydrocortisone has been described in patients with asthma (255). Acute laryngeal obstruction has been described for the first time after the intravenous administration of hydrocortisone (SEDA-22, 449) (256). There is some reason to believe that sodium succinate esters are more likely to cause hypersensitivity reactions (SEDA-17, 449), but unconjugated glucocorticoids can definitely produce allergy in some cases (SEDA-16, 452). 

In the first definitive monograph on asthma, published in 1864, Sir Henry Hyde Salter concluded that the airway obstruction in asthma results from bronchoconstriction, mucus plu ng of the airway lumen, and edema of the airway wall (Salter, 1864). Salter s interpretations were probably based on clinical observations rather than on pathological examinations, because post-mortem findings were not described at that time. In fact, the initial histopathological studies of the airways of asthmatics did not recognize the presence of mucosal edema For example, in the first description of a post-mortem examination of a patient who died in status asthmaticus, Leyden concluded that the airflow obstruction resulted from mucus in the airways and that the walls [of bronchi]. ..are not essentially changed (Leyden, 1886). 

Ammonia has an odor threshold ranging from 1 to 5 ppm. Exposures between 20 and 25 ppm can cause complaints and discomfort in some workers unaccustomed to ammonia exposure but have little effect on pulmonary function or odor sensitivity. Concentrations of 100 ppm caused definite irritation of the respiratory tract and eyes, and exposures at 250 ppm ammonia are bearable for 30-60 min. Severe irritation of the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes has been observed following ammonia exposures ranging from 400 to 700 ppm. Exposure to 2500-4500 ppm ammonia can be fatal within 30 min. Immediate fatalities appear to be the result of airway obstruction, particularly laryngeal edema and glottic spasm, while infections and other secondary complications appear to be the cause of fatality among those who survive for several days to weeks. 

By contrast, the loose binding of metals in metalloenzyme complexes makes a precise presentation of empiric structural formulas difficult, since the tenuous nature of the association of metal and protein obstructs a definitive characterization of the system and the role of the metal in it.
