International Steering Committee, Rare Earth and Actinide Chemistry Conferences (1986-1990)... 

Prof. Heublein held the chair of Organic Chemistry from 1968. He was author or co-author of more than 300 scientific papers, of 4 books, and held more than 70 patents. He worked actively on many scientific commissions and was member of the International Steering Committee of the International Symposium on Cationic Polymerisation, the 7th of which took place with great success in Jena in 1985. From 1981 he was on the editorial board of the J. Macromol. Sci.-Chem. and, from 1983, one of the editors of Advances in Polymer Science. 

To implement strategic decisions, the Sustainability Council is supported by the International Steering Committee Sustainability. Its ten members, senior executives from various regions and disciplines, reflect the range and diversity of the BASF Group and the significance of the topic. They plan and oversee strategy implementation. A number of task-specific project teams report to this Committee and draw up specific measures. 

The Sustainability Center acts as an interface between the Sustainability Council and the International Steering Committee. It coordinates various internal projects and teams and is responsible for BASF Group communication on sustainability. 

Following these investigations, an International Steering Committee was created. The need of additional investigations on possible long-time effects was stressed. 

Professor Marcus is currently president of the European Federation of Corrosion, chairman of the EFC Working Party on Surface Science and Mechanisms of Corrosion and Protection, chairman of the International Steering Committee for the European Conferences on Applications of Surface and Interface Analysis, and chairman of the Scientific and Technical Committee of CEFRACOR (Centre Fran ais de lAnticorrosion). He is the former chairman of the Corrosion, Electrodeposition and Surface Treatment, and of the Electrochemical Materials Science divisions of the International Society of Electrochemistry.

Harmonisation activities are overseen by a steering committee comprising representatives of each of the six parties, together with observers from the WHO, the European Eree Trade Association (EFTA) and Canada. The Committee meet at least twice each year, with the location rotating between the three regions. The committee also organises major international conferences on harmonisation that are held every 2 years.

The current structure of MedDRA is defined in Table 21.6. There will be a central maintenance organization responsible for development, user support, implementation and communication as well as an international user group. A management board will oversee the activities of the central maintenance organization with direction provided by the ICH Steering Committee. A standard medical dictionary will facilitate electronic data exchange between industry and regulatory authorities worldwide, as recommended by the ICH.

It was agreed, from the start, that the focus for discussions of tripartite harmonisation should be an international conference or series of conferences. The Steering Committee recognised the importance of ensuring that the process of harmonisation is carried out in an open and transparent manner and that ICH discussions and recommendations are presented in open forums.
