When in 1911 the International Association of Chemical Societies was established, it naturally became a new centre for international collaboration between the European chemical societies especially in the domain of pure chemistry. Societe chimique and the Chemical Society were its co-founders, along with the Deutsche chemische Gesellschaft.

Urszula Domahska has been professor. Faculty of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology since February 1995. She has been the Head of the Physical Chemistry Division since September 1991 and vice director of the Institute of Fundamental Chemistry (1988-1990). She had long-term scientific visits as visiting professor Laboratoire De Thermodynamique Ft D Analyse Chimique, University of Metz, France University of Turku, Finland Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, University of Natal, South Africa Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, United States. Her interests have included such areas of physical chemistry as thermodynamics, especially thermodynamics of phase equilibria, VLE, LLE, SLE, high-pressure SLE, separation science, calorimetry, correlation and prediction of physical-chemical properties, and ionic liquids. She is a member of the Polish Chemical Society member of the Polish Association of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis member of lUPAC Commission on Solubility member of International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics and scientific advisor at the Journal of Chemical Engineering Data.

His awards include the SETAC Founders Award, the Honda Prize for Eco-Technology, the Order of Ontario, and the Order of Canada. He has served on the editorial boards of several journals and is a member of SETAC, the American Chemical Society, and the International Association of Great Lakes Research. 

For the publication of original matter and occasional reviews, some papers in dairy chemistry, but not very many, appear in American Chemical Society journals, as also in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, The main publication in the field in this country is the Journal of Dairy Science, Qi the American Dairy Science Association. This, however, covers a very much broader field than chemistry. The Journal of Milk and Food Technology, which is the official organ of the International Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians, is primarily concerned with papers of public health interest. The Journal of the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists contains some reports on analytical methods appertaining to the dairy field. There are also numerous trade magazines in which scientific and technical articles appear from time to time.

Dr. Schramm is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (including serving on the Local Section Executive) and is a member of the American Chemical Society and the International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists. He has written more than 60 scientific publications and patents. This is his third ACS book, following Emulsions Fundamentals and Applications in the Petroleum Industry and The Language of Colloid and Interface Science. 

Dr. Miller s research interests center on equilibrium and dynamic phenomena in oil/water/surfactant systems, specifically interfacial stability and behavior of emulsions, microemulsions and foams and their application in areas such as detergency, enhanced oil recovery and environmental remediation. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a member of the American Chemical Society, American Oil Chemists Society, International Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He has published numerous research papers and review articles on interfadal phenomena, served on the editorial boards of leading journals in the field, and given invited lectures at conferences, universities and industrial laboratories in many countries.
