Machinery, installation

Resources are of various types such as installed machineries, inlrastmcture facilities, trained manpower, and cash funds. No resource shall remain idle as far as... [Pg.38]

This kind of safefy framing is necessary for new operators and maintenance or setup personnel, when any new or altered safeguards are put in service, or when workers are assigned to a new machine or operation. Properly installed machinery safeguards, well-written safe work practices, and a strong training program are all important elements of a company s Machine... [Pg.370]

The costs of this phase consist of direct costs associated with the purchase and installation of materials equipment, the value of construction assembly works, the value of installed machinery equipment, the value of direct used materials, direct labor costs, fees charges related to required permits and the costs of preparing the construction site. [Pg.492]

The most widely used austenitic stainless steel is Type 304, known as 18—8. It has excellent corrosion resistance and, because of its austenitic stmcture, excellent ductihty. It may be deep-drawn or stretch formed. It can be readily welded, but carbide precipitation must be avoided in and near the weld by cooling rapidly enough after welding. Where carbide precipitation presents problems. Types 321, 347, or 304L may be used. The appHcations of Types 304 are wide and varied, including kitchen equipment and utensils, dairy installations, transportation equipment, and oil-, chemical-, paper- (qv), and food-processing (qv) machinery. [Pg.399]

Control of Dyeing Equipment. Over the years, the dyer and machinery manufacturer have appHed any mechanical or electrical equipment that would enable them, day after day, to produce repeatable dyeings of top quaHty. First, thermometers were installed in dye lines these soon evolved into thermocouples with remote recording. Other improvements were soon developed, such as automatic four-way valves with variable-interval controls, flow controls, pressure recorders, hydrauHc and air pressure sets on roUers, pH controls, etc. [Pg.371]

Install the shims sliding them under the machinery footprint, until contact is made with the anchor bolt. Then move the shim back away from the bolt shaft to avoid interference with the threads and to assure tolerance. [Pg.149]

Smooth starts are possible with steam turbine installations that include an auxiliary boiler because the startup phases of the turbocompressor can be matched to different plant operating conditions. Aside from process-related timing issues, the time elapse or machinery startup duration is generally determined by the temperature gradients admissible on both steam turbine and expander. These factors are influenced by the relative expansion rates of the fixed and rotating components in these machines. [Pg.126]

Graphic User Interface (GUI)—This consists of screens, which would enable the operator to easily interrogate the system and to visually see where the instruments are installed and their values at any point of time. By carefully designed screens, the operator will be able to view at a glance the relative positions of all values, thus, fully understanding the operation of the machinery. [Pg.649]

Most turbomachinery is mounted on structural steel platforms sometimes referred to as base plates or skids. These platforms are then installed on a mass of concrete at the jobsite (either by direct grouting or mounting on sole plates) to become the machinery foundation. Platforms should always be considered as part of the foundation rather than as part of the machinery. [Pg.764]

Flow rate changes are sometimes used in the design of local exhaust systems. An example of this is the use of dampers, blastgates, or valves that are interlocked with the machinery of interest. When the tool is on, the damper is opened and air is exhausted from that hood. When the tool is off, the damper is closed and more exhaust air is available to other parts of the system. These kinds of systems diminish the cost for running the system but increase the cost for installation as well as periodic preventive maintenance. The supply system... [Pg.824]

Installations underground in mines and self-propelled mobile surface mining machinery and its attendant electrical trailing cable. [Pg.635]

Vehicle fleet owners often have their cars and/or vans converted to run on LPG and have an on-site bulk storage vessel installed complete with a dispensing pump. This is an attractive economic proposition for taxis, ambulances, local authority fleets, etc. Virtually any spark-ignition engine can be converted to run on LPG. It can therefore be considered for any engine-driven machinery. [Pg.307]

However, information concerning thermal rise is not available for all equipment. Generally, manufacturers of critical machinery, such as centrifugal air compressors and turbines, will include information relating to thermal rise in their installation manuals in the section dealing with alignment. When not available, the only method to determine the exact amount of compensation necessary to correct for thermal rise is referred to as a hot alignment check . [Pg.930]

Because of this, all new machinery should be thoroughly inspected for defects before installation. Acceptance criteria should include guidelines that clearly define acceptable design/operational specifications. This practice pays big dividends by increasing productivity and decreasing unscheduled downtime. [Pg.1023]

Failure analysis statistics have consistently shown that many machinery components failures can be directly attributed the equipment being operated outside of design parameters or unintended conditions. Most failure analysis and trouble-shooting activities are usually post-mortem and commence after installation and start-up of the equipment. The maintenance phase is now in motion, and failure analysis and trouble-shooting is now an integral part of that phase. [Pg.1043]

F. ferro-oxidants is capable of accelerating the oxidation of pyritic (FeSj) deposits at acid pH values. It is usually found in association with Thio-bacillus and was known as Thiobacillus ferroxidans before the distinction between the two organisms was appreciated. It is responsible for pollution problems arising from acid waters in gold and bituminous coal mines such waters are corrosive to pumping machinery and mining installations (see Fig. 2.20). [Pg.394]

Bilges and ballast waters are one of the most difficult areas of this nature to deal with, especially in machinery spaces, since not only are they almost impossible to keep dry or even to dry out while the offshore installation is in operation, but effective maintenance of protective coatings at ail areas is in any case quite impossible except at major overhauls and refits, because of inaccessibility or very high temperatures and humidities. Good initial... [Pg.70]

Traveling around the state installing his machinery, Rillieux had to stay on slave-operated plantations. Like many free people of color, Rillieux may have regarded himself as the equal of the white ruling class, far above dark-skinned slaves. But in the antebellum South, Rillieux could not stay in the plantations mansions. Rumor had it that he stayed in slave quarters, but a firsthand observer reported that on Benjamin s plantation Rillieux was given a special house and slaves to serve him. [Pg.39]
