Stretch forming

The trimethyltin thiophene-2-carboxylate ° propagates by glides to give rise to zigzag chains. The furan-2-carboxylate ° and substituted benzoates propagate by twofold screw axes to form stretched helical chains. [Pg.973]

The ability to stretch-orient the emeraldine polymer, as well as the ability to form stretch-oriented fibers of the emeraldine, has enabled the study of conductivity in anisotropically oriented samples [18]. Preliminary studies of oriented ES-II films show that the conductivity increases approximately fifty-fold to a(295 K) 8 S/cm with 2.5. [Pg.340]

The second method is the measurement of the transport number, for which the experimental technique was developed by Tubandt and his co-workers (39). It was early discovered (67,68) that Faraday s laws were valid for the salts barium chloride and silver chloride, and thus tliat the current carriers are ions. Tubandt and his school carried these investigations much further by pressing salt cylinders together between metal electrodes and electrolysing the system. By weighing the cylinders and electrodes before and after electrolysis the amounts of material transported were estimated directly. However, it was shown that in many instances threads of metal formed stretching from anode to cathode, so that conduction soon became metallic. a-AgI did not behave in this manner, and it was sufficient to coat the electrodes with a protective layer of this salt to suppress the formation of metal threads. With a cell arranged as below ... [Pg.266]

The molecules behave in solution as highly hydrated randomly kinked coils, which start to entangle at concentrations of less than 1 mg/mL. The entanglement point can be seen both by sedimentation analysis [23] and viscosity. (Morris ER et al., 1980) More recently Scott et al. (1991) have given evidence that the chains when entangling also interact with each other and form stretches of double hehces so that the netwoik becomes mechanically more firm. [Pg.123]

Hydroforming Hydroforming is one of the new technologies in the manufacturing processes that has become popular in recent years due to the increasing demands for lightweight parts in various fields, such as bicycle, automotive, aircraft, and aerospace industries [ 1 ]. In hydroforming process, workpieces are uniformly plastically formed (stretched) in every direction under hydrostatic pressure up to 6000 bar (mostly up to 2500-3000 bar) of a fluid (water or oil) in a controlled manner. The final shape of the hydroformed piece results from the contact with the process fluid from one side and with a male or female die from the other side. [Pg.257]

The tendency of the T atoms to form compressed RjT prisms and of the M atoms to form stretched R M prisms leads to the deformation of the trigonal prisms as can be seen in fig. 9 in the drawings for 5067 Gd3NiSi2 and 5071 Ce7Ni2Si5. That deformation is also observed with certain prisms in 55(53) Cei4NigSi9 and could be an indication for an overlooked ordering of T and M atoms. [Pg.138]
