At the simplest level, drug companies seek FDA approval to do anything that involves the testing of therapies in humans. The FDA authors and publishes manuals and other publications that establish the guidelines for Best Clinical Practice which insurers such as HMOs use to guide their own activity of reimbursement of medical bills, and so on. 

LCA has been extensively employed to analyse fibre and textile production and forms the basis for best practice environmental guidelines such as ecolabelling. It is also the preferred methodology for assessing disparate production systems of functionally comparable man-made and natural fibres (Van der Velden et ah, 2013). This latter point is particularly relevant for silks as will become apparent. 

The TLVs, as issued by the American Conference of Govemmentai industrial Hygienists, are recommendations and should be used as guidelines for good practices. In spite of the fact that serious injury is not believed likely as a result of exposure to the threshold limit concentrations, the best practice is to maintain concentrations of all atmospheric contaminants as low as is practical. The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists disclaims liability with respect to the use of TLVs.

The policy should begin with a policy statement. The policy statement explains what you are doing. Is the policy a standard or a guideline Standards are specific requirements that must be met, while guidelines identify best practices. The statement tells when the policy applies and lists major conditions or restrictions. Next is the reason for the policy and a description of the conflict or problem the policy is designed to resolve. List those who should know this policy and should follow the policy and its accompanying procedures in order to do their job. Document the resource and contact information at the end of the policy.
