Enterprise level

Whilst the decision to pursue ISO/TS 16949 registration will be an executive decision, the attention it is given at each level in the organization will have a bearing on the degree of success attained. There are three primary organization levels the enterprise level, the business level, and the operations level. Between each level there are barriers. 

At the enterprise level, the executive management responds to the voice of ownership and is primarily concerned with profit, return on capital employed, market share, etc. At the business level, the managers are concerned with products and services and hence respond to the voice of the customer. At the operational level, the middle managers, supervisors, operators, etc. focus on processes that produce products and services and hence respond to the voice of the processes carried out within their own function. 

The ultimate goal of all scientists is to analyze their data thoroughly until they are sure that it is valid and to then analyze it in a more global context and discuss it with their colleagues. This workflow requires enterprise level IT tools that can effectively compare and correlate multiple HTS campaigns that generated millions of results from hundreds of thousands of compounds, recognize and chart trends and hierarchies of association and help the scientist visualize them, annotate them, and render the visualizations in media that can be used to share that vision with other members of the team. 

Enterprise level - supply chain of materials or components, network of production sites, inventory hubs, sales and distribution centres, R D and the integration of various plants. 

Positioning the EM techniques reviewed in this chapter into a research map (Figure 5) that has manufacturing level and decision timescale as its axes reveals almost intuitive results. The more focused (lower manufacturing level) an EM technique, the shorter the timescale on which decisions can be made adjusting machine setup parameters (turret level) can be done by one person in a few minutes, whereas reconfiguring a supply chain (enterprise level) will take a team of people months or even years. In the research map, this correlation seems linear, but since the x-axis is not continuous and the y-axis is not quantitatively scaled, a strict correlation is undefinable and inappropriate. Nonetheless, there are clear areas of the map that are not occupied by any of the reviewed EM techniques, and it is therefore suggested that there is a need for research to be undertaken to address these areas. 

Develop new and powerful computational methods, applicable from the atomic and molecular level to the chemical process and enterprise level, that will enable multiscale optimization. 

In the appendices, the book contains a set of tools including an enterprise-level screening tool, reference information available to conduct the CCPS SVA, ancTa workbook with worksheets for conducting the CCPS SVA, examples of enhanced security measures, and checklists for assessing security measures at a site. 

The technology of component-based systems is becoming fairly well established not so the methods to develop them. To be successful, serious enterprise-level development needs clear, repeatable procedures and techniques for development, well-defined and standard architectures, and unambiguous notations whereby colleagues can communicate about their designs. 

Enterprise-level design The separability of different layers of decision makes Catalysis particularly suitable for design in very substantial projects. 

The intent is to reduce misunderstandings between colleagues about the terms and parameters of the business. Making some of these business rules explicit and precise aids identification of software requirements (which parts of the rales are dealt with by which component, which by users), type models (the models provide the vocabulary that helps specify the rales), traceability from software to business, and enterprise-level knowledge management (explicit representation of business knowledge and rales). 

The SGX Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is based on an Oracle database platform. As an enterprise level relational database, Oracle is robust and can be expanded to meet any future needs. The expense to implement and maintain the database and to create the tools to retrieve the data stored within, including an administrator dedicated to managing the system, can be significant. At SGX, use of the LIMS to monitor all of our scientific activities reduces the incremental cost to the beamline to an acceptable level. 

An assurance that the physical hardware, software, and the regulated electronic records are maintained in a secure environment is critical to the validated status of a computer system, particularly if it is an enterprise level system. Security must be instituted at several levels. Procedural controls must govern the physical access to computer systems (physical security). The access to individual computer system platforms is controlled by network specific security procedures (network security). Finally, application level security and associated authority checks control access to the computer system applications (applications security). 

Information on enterprise level compliance with regulations and safety standards is limited. A report of Pricewaterhouse Coopers (2004) published on the eve of the first round of the eastwards enlargement of the EU concludes that ... 

Robert Fretz joined F. Hoffmann-Fa Roche more than 30 years ago as a chemical engineer. He is presently responsible for Process Automation in all chemical and galenical manufacturing sites and leads the corporate Mamrfacturing Execution systems program. Mr. Fretz has broad international experience in all levels of control/automation projects from instrumentation to the enterprise level. Many of these projects included computerized system validation. Enforcement powers. Measures on hygiene, safety and working conditions and on the functioning of workers representation on health and saf are part of the Labour Code which is the main instrument on which the Labour Inspectorate relies to perform its tasks. With two complementary external intervention systems at enterprise level with respect to surveillance and enforcement of legislation in the field of health and safety and the prevention of occupational risks, the French system is a dual one.
