Data extraction file

In order to better access, utilize, and interpret existing teratology and reproduction toxicity data, a comprehensive data extraction project funded by the EPA is in progress at ETIC. Specific experimental data are extracted from selected ETIC master file documents. These data are entered in approximately 60 data fields, which comprise a data extraction file record. These data fields include information such as the identification of the test agent, test animals, experimental protocol, and results. Data field identifiers are listed in Table 6.

Nuclear Data Sheets, Academic Press, San Diego, Calif., TvaluatedNuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF), a computer database of nuclear stmcture data evaluated by an international network of evaluators, is maintained at the National Nuclear Data Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory. NUDNTis a computer database of decay data extracted from the ENSDF. 

The data points from SAIC s data base were already stored in CARP files. Data extracted from the CPI data resources were also entered into CARP files for storage and organization of the data points by their relevant taxonomy levels. 

RTECS Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances number is a unique and unchanging number used to cross-reference the RTECS database, which is a compendium of data extracted from the open scientific literature. Six types of toxicity data are included in each file (1) primary irritation, (2) mutagenic effects, (3) reproductive effects, (4) tumorigenic effects, (5) acute toxicity, and (6) other multiple dose toxicity.

Data extraction is the process of selecting and copying data fields to an external file. Data extraction procedures generally produce files that are simply a reflection of the database. The data can then be manipulated and/or transposed to achieve an optimal structure for analysis and reporting requirements. Additional fields can be derived, response values standardized or decoded, and variables labeled more clearly. 

Are the images produced in a format from which data can be extracted The majority of data extraction software requires tagged image format files (tiffs) as input. Often, the easiest option is to use the data extraction program recommended by the scanner manufacturer. 

In each of the four Indexes of Mixtures the column EVLM represents the Property Type Identifier (Chap. 2.1.1). The letter a after the Property Type Identifier indicates a partially miscible system. The number in column LB represents the File Number of the numerical data extractable from the CD as a table in PDF format and as a fully documented ASCII file (SELF or ELDATA format, Chap. 3). If a number appears in column Page, then it represents the page in Chap. 2 where the numerical data table is printed.

The Chinese patent file with its abstracts can be used to supplement WPI, which at this writing has only tides for Chinese patents. JAPIO provides abstracts based ia particular oa pateat claims, and can help to clarify uncertainties with Japanese abstracts from Derwent and/or CA. PATOLIS, ia Japanese, is a unique source of Japanese legal status information (37). EPIDOS staff carry out PATOLIS searches on request for those with sufficient need to search the PATOLIS database, software is available to enable those who cannot read Japanese to extract key data. 

SAIC provided much of the data used in this book from its proprietary files of previously analyzed and selected information. Since these data were primarily from the nuclear power industry, a literature search and industry survey described in Chapter 4 were conducted to locate other sources of data specific to the process equipment types in the CCPS Taxonomy. Candidate data resources identified through this effort were reviewed, and the appropriate ones were selected. Applicable failure rate data were extracted from them for the CCPS Generic Failure Rate Data Base. The resources that provided failure information are listed in Table 5.1 with data reference numbers used in the data tables to show where the data originated. 

Due to its modularity, the software comes in many parts (shown in Fig. 9). The Chemkin package is composed of four important pieces the Interpreter, the Thermodynamic Data Base, the Linking File, and the Gas-Phase Subroutine Library. The Interpreter is a program that first reads the user s symbolic description of the reaction mechanism. It then extracts thermodynamic information for the species involved from the Thermodynamic Data Base. The user may add to or modify the information in the data base by input to the Interpreter. In addition to printed output, the Interpreter writes a Linking File, which contains all the pertinent information on the elements, species, and reactions in the mechanism. 

Supplemental files (review aids) are any data set needed by the reviewer for additional analysis purposes that cannot be readily extracted from the PDF report or additional information in electronic format that would enhance the reviewer s understanding or facilitate presentation of the data. 

For major point sources, site-specific population patterns were extracted from U.S. Census Bureau files using data at the Enumeration District/Block Group (ED/BG) level. These data provide the finest resolution of population patterns available. The data were scaled from 1970 to a base year of 1978 using county growth factors published by the Census Bureau. Interpolations of population and concentration patterns were used to develop patterns of exposure/dosage that were then summed to produce source-specific exposure/dosage totals. 

This paper outlines one approach that is being developed at the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), where data are extracted from the database and re-cast as KML files that can be displayed in Google Earth or any other KML-aware application. Examples are presented for a recently-completed compilation of till geochemical data from New Brunswick (Adcock et al. 2009).
