Construction Schedule and Start-up - To date, the few commercial-scale SCFCO2 plants constructed worldwide have, for the most part, experienced cost overruns due to retrofitting to correct design and construction flaws upon start-up, and the associated cost of start-up delay. A commercial-scale SCFCO2 processing plant is highly capital intensive, and thus, profitability is very sensitive... [Pg.142]

Innovative design of the plant arrangement and advanced construction concept adopted to minimize cost, to shorten the construction schedule and to meet safety, operational and maintenance criteria. [Pg.6]

Modular construction and fabrication concepts to shorten construction schedule and reduce construction cost... [Pg.64]

A modular construction approach is used for the equipment, cable trays, HVAC ducts, and a uniform spacing between walls and floors to accommodate such equipment is provided. This provides for an efficient construction schedule and efficient space utilization. Facilities with long experience for module fabrication such as ship yards are anticipated to construct the equipment. The schedule of the flow of materials, shop production, and assembly of modules will be closely integrated and supervised. [Pg.73]

What is the construction schedule and the estimated cost of the pollution abatement devices ... [Pg.128]

There is one turbine for each power block. The turbine generator equipment is located in one turbine building. An estimate of the plant capital cost, using the modular construction approach, showed a small cost reduction when compared with conventional construction. Aside from any direct cost reduction, modular construction provides advantages such as greater control of plant capital cost and construction schedule and, hence, a reduced risk in these areas. [Pg.501]

Equipment used to process, store, or handle highly hazardous chemicals must be designed constructed, installed and maintained to minimize the risk of release. A systematic, scheduled, test and maintenance program is preferred over "breakdown" maintenance " that could compromise safety. Elements of a mechanical integrity program include 1) identification and categorization of equipment and instrumentation, 2) documentation of manufacturer data on mean time to failure, 3 ) test and inspection frequencies, 4) maintenance procedures, 5) training of maintenance personnel, 6) test criteria, and 7) documentation of test and inspection results. [Pg.72]

Selection from existing or innovative Construction Methods, Schedules and Designs to Adapt projects to the Latest Understanding of the Changing Risks due to Climate at each individual site (e.g., the passive damping system at the Taipei Financial Center). [Pg.66]

In the last twenty odd years, almost all nuclear endeavors in the U.S. have run into bureaucratic and litigious delays, making their schedules and costs unpredictable. In addition to reactor construction, there are the bureaucratic delays in the waste repository programs. Another example is the attempt to build a new uranium enrichment plant in the state of Louisiana, a plant which uses advanced technology demonstrated in several countries in Europe. Licensing started over seven years ago and is still held up by issues without relevance to technology or safety. It is approaching the point where the delays, and costs may lead to the abandonment of a potential asset... [Pg.104]

There are a number of different ways of estimating the cost of constructing a chemical plant. Some require veiy little information and some require a complete listing of every item, from pipe fittings to storage tanks and electrical sockets to generators. All assume a normal schedule and normal conditions. A normal schedule implies that the contractor and engineers will be allowed to operate in the most efficient way. Any attempt to complete the plant sooner will result in increased investment costs. This is discussed in Chapter 13. [Pg.237]

The students used the Gantt chart to plan and monitor the project progress. Each team prepared a detailed list of tasks, milestones and deliverables. A timeline was constructed based on the completion time, delivery schedule and estimated time needed to complete each tasks. The Gantt chart enabled the students to identify dependency between various tasks and recognize potential bottlenecks in the project. The critical tasks, scheduled tasks, completion dates and delivery time were clearly labeled. Each week the teams met to discuss and update the Gantt chart, as old tasks were completed and new one started. [Pg.356]

Recommendation 9. The Army should develop an earned value system to maintain a comprehensive multiyear cost and schedule for the construction, operation, and closure of each chemical agent disposal facility. The system should be used to control and report the effect on cost and schedule from changes such as permit modifications, proposals for engineering changes, and the phaseout of security for surety material. [Pg.25]

A document that indicates cleany what is provided in terms of technology, quality, schedule, and cost A basis in enough detail to be used in controlhng the project and its costs to permit proper evaluation of any proposed changes A device to permit subsequent evaluation of the performance compared to the intended performance A document to control the detailed estimate for the final design, construction, and design... [Pg.12]

Constructability VIP The constructability VIP is the systematic implementation of the latest engineering, procurement and construction concepts and lessons learned, which are consistent with the facility s operations and maintenance requirements. The goal is to enhance construction safety, scope, cost, schedule, and quality. [Pg.50]

Has construction experts working with the engineering and procurement process that results in construction safety, cost, schedule, and quality savings... [Pg.51]

Reduction of the required curing and protection period and allowance of earlier removal of forms, enabling the contractor to meet specified construction schedules. [Pg.437]

Weekly meetings were held to discuss construction progress and costs and to adjust construction schedules. These meetings contributed significantly to the timely completion of the project without loss of production. [Pg.55]

The factors which affect the electrical output of a Leclanche cell may be divided into two groups (1) cell-dependent, e.g. construction, composition and size, and (2) user-dependent, e.g. discharge rate, cut-off voltage, operating schedule, operating temperature, storage conditions, etc. [Pg.79]
