Coating insulating coatings

In reality, aircraft parts can consist of several stacked layers of material, eonnected by rivets or bolts. To avoid corrosion, the layers are often protected by a special coating, so that there is no electrical connection between the layers. If there is a crack for example in the middle layer, no current will thus flow above or below the defect because of the insulating coating between the layers. There is only the possibility for the current to flow around the crack in the x-y... [Pg.259]

The defects detection under the layer of any dielectric (varnish - colour, heat - insulation coating, sealant etc.) to 10 mm in thickness. [Pg.343]

Polyesters are also used in continuous filament spunbonded nonwovens (see Nonwoven fabrics). Reemay spunbonded fabric is composed of continuous filament PET with a polyester copolymer binder. These spunbonded fabrics are available in a wide range of thicknesses and basis weights and can be used for electrical insulation, coated fabric substrates, disposable apparel for clean rooms, hospitals, and geotextiles (qv). [Pg.334]

Electromagnetic flow meters ate avadable with various liner and electrode materials. Liner and electrode selection is governed by the corrosion characteristics of the Hquid. Eor corrosive chemicals, fluoropolymer or ceramic liners and noble metal electrodes are commonly used polyurethane or mbber and stainless steel electrodes are often used for abrasive slurries. Some fluids tend to form an insulating coating on the electrodes introducing errors or loss of signal. To overcome this problem, specially shaped electrodes are avadable that extend into the flow stream and tend to self-clean. In another approach, the electrodes are periodically vibrated at ultrasonic frequencies. [Pg.65]

PhenoHcs that are not heat-reactive may be incorporated into both air-dried and baked oleoresinous coatings. AppHcations vary widely and include clear and pigmented exterior varnishes, aluminum-maintenance paints, 2inc-rich primers, can coatings, insulation varnishes, and concrete paints. As modifiers in a great variety of appHcations, they enhance the performance of oleoresinous and alkyd coatings. [Pg.303]

First ply or as vapor barrier under insulation. Coated on both sides with asphalt and surfaced on top side with fine mineral granules (2,9). [Pg.210]

For example, in bulk appHcations as thermal insulation, synthetic mineral fibers (glass or slag fibers) have adequately replaced natural asbestos fibers. In sprayed insulation coatings, asbestos fibers have been replaced, for example, by vermicuhte. As replacement for asbestos textiles, clothing made from aramid fibers or aluminized glass fibers is being offered (see High PERFORMANCE FIBERS). [Pg.356]

The resins have wide appHcation. In nonreinforced form they serve as insulating coatings for electrical coils (46—47). As fiber reinforced resins, they can be made by reaction injection mol ding into laminates, castings, and coatings (48—49). Fiber-reinforced resins are used in marine appHcations (recreational boats) automotive parts (50) bathroom countertops and shower stalls and tubs and more recendy as baUistic protection for military vehicles and aircraft. [Pg.434]

Recently in some types of refuelling stations, corrosion-resistant materials have been used between the filter-water separator and the outlet pipeline and valves, usually stainless steel, rarely aluminum. If these are buried, they must have good insulating coating and be electrically separated from other tank installations by insulating couplings. [Pg.291]

Within 2 years the pipe/soil potential immediately at the wall entrance of the pipeline changed from f/cu-cuS04 = -0.45 V to -0.7 V. Favorable potential values at these points are to be expected if the foundations have insulating coatings. [Pg.317]

Cathodic protection cannot work with prestressed concrete structures that have electrically insulated, coated pipes. There is positive experience in the case of a direct connection without coated pipes this is protection of buried prestressed concrete pipelines by zinc anodes [38], Stability against H-induced stress corrosion in high-strength steels with impressed current has to be tested (see Section 2.3.4). [Pg.428]
