Cleansing creams

Cosmetics and Personal Care Products. Alkanolamines ate important taw materials in the manufacture of creams (95—97), lotions, shampoos, soaps, and cosmetics. Soaps (98) formed from triethanolamine and fatty acids ate mild, with low alkalinity and excellent detergency. Triethanolamine lauryl sulfate is a common base for shampoos (99—101) and offers significant mildness over sodiumlauryl sulfate. Diethanolamine lauryl sulfate and fatty acid soaps of mono- and trietban olamine can also be used in shampoos and bubble bath formulations. Chemistry similar to that used in soluble oils and other emulsifiers is appUcable to cleansing creams and lotions (102,103). Alkanolamides or salts ate added to the shampoo base to give a smooth, dense foam (104). [Pg.10]

Barrier creams are applied before work to provide a protective film. A different type of cream, cleansing cream, is applied after work to aid dirt removal and to condition skin with humectant. [Pg.437]

HCF was especially widely used in Western countries. Until 1972, it was included as an active component in soaps, cleansing creams, shampoo, deodorants, creams, and toothpastes. HCF was used for medical purposes, to control staphyllococcus contamination, in particular in maternity hospitals and in the cosmetics industry it was also used as a preservative, etc. It was used in agricultural formulations as well [67]. Although HCF s toxicity was... [Pg.58]

As with any chemical products, persons known to have a history of dermatitis, skin sensitisation or asthma should not work in direct contact with polyurethanes. Ingestion, inhalation, skin contact and eye contact should be avoided. Prolonged contact in any form with the skin may cause localised irritation leading to dermatitis and must be avoided. In case of skin contact, remove excess with clean cloth. Clean with proprietary cleansing cream and wash with soap and water. Do not use any solvent. Contaminated clothing should be removed immediately and not reused until it is laundered. [Pg.99]

Cleansing creams and lotions are detergent-based or emulsified oil systems that are designed primarily for the removal of surface oil, pollutants, or cellular debris along with makeup from the face and neck areas. Most emulsified cleansing creams are manufactured similar to cold creams but modified to enhance their debris-removal capability. They usually contain from 15 to 50 percent oils (e.g., mineral oil, vegetable oils, fatty esters, and propoxylated oils) with limited quantities of waxy materials. [Pg.27]

An antimicrobial denture adhesive, denture cleansing cream or denture soaking or brushing composition comprises a combination of 8-hydroxyquinoline (or its salt) and at least one copper(II) salt. The composition fights denture stomatitis by inhibiting Candida albicans. [Pg.67]

A friend of my father helped me get a job in the cosmetics lab while 1 was still in school. I worked days and attended school at nights. That way, 1 got to see what chemistry was aU about in the real world. 1 felt 1 was ahead of students who lacked practical experience. For instance, in my colloid chemistry class, 1 brought materials to school and demonstrated how to make a cleansing cream. [Pg.491]

Based on the product forms and rheological properties, the existing body-cleansing products can be categorized into four forms, namely, solid bar cleansers, liquid cleansers, cleansing creams, and implements. Different types of products associated with these four forms are shown in Table 7.3. [Pg.139]

Mildness and moisturization of facial cleansers are assessed in the same way as bar and liquid cleansers, by controlled-application wash testing. The maximization allergy testing (patch) method is another very common test used for relative mildness studies of cleansing creams and lotions. [Pg.146]
