MDL Screening Compounds Directory (formerly ACD-SC) contains over 3.5 million structures (including 3D models), comprising nearly 6 miUion products from 46 chemical suppliers of compounds for HTS. [Pg.5]

ChemExper ChemExper is a company that joins together the areas of chemistry, computer science, and telecoimnunication. The ChemExper Chemical Directory is a free service that allows finding a chemical by its molecular formula, lUPAC name, common name, CAS niunber, catalog number, substracture or physical characteristics, as well as chemical suppliers. This database contains currently more than 500,000 chemicals, 16,000 material safety data sheet (MSDS), 10,000 infrared (IR) spectra, and more than 500 chemical suppliers. [Pg.78]

There exist a multitude of chemical reagent sources. The Available Chemical Directory (ACD) collection, from Symyx Technologies Inc., lists as many as 1,160,000 unique chemicals with chemical structure, pricing, supplier, purity, forms, etc. [Pg.338]

A general directory of commodity suppliers 32) lists products alphabetically and gives names of suppliers but does not discriminate between manufacturers and merchants. The list is inadequate for chemicals. The Handbuch der Deutschen Aktiengesell-schaften, a directory of German companies, gives detailed information on the finances, directorates, and industrial and other activities of the individual concerns. Fortunately, the majority of known microorganisms are classified as non-patho-genic and harmless to humans and the environment. These can be handled safely in the normal laboratory. The Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (London), publishes a Directory of Members, while the British and Overseas Pharmacist s Year Book (London, British and Colonial Druggist Ltd.) provides an alphabetical list of manufacturers and gives information on schools of pharmacy in many countries and institutions. The Chemist and Druggist Diary and Yearbook (Morgan) lists pharmaceutical suppliers, has a trade names index and also provides information on societies and institutions. The Pharmaceutical Society publishes annually an Index of New Products which gives the names and addresses of manufacturers with some technical information, while similar data with a list of trade names is given in the London Medical Handbook (British and Colonial Druggist Ltd.). Manufacturers are also listed alphabetically in the Proprietary Articles Trade Association Yearbook, and in the Retail Chemist Trade Price List of Proprietary Articles (London, Drury Press) which contains a list of trade names. The.se databases have an important role to fill from a supply point of view, and mention should be made of the MDL Available Chemicals Directory (ACD), which coordinates the offerings of many suppliers. Containing over 240 catalogs representing over 500000 products and 2(X)000 substances, the ACD provides an efficient way to reliably source and comparison-shop for commercially available chemicals.
