Low inductance Eddy current probes can be obtained by reducing the number of turns and by loosing the magnetic coupling between the tums. Chloramine-T, sodium A/-chloro-/)-toluenesulfonamide [127-65-17, was widely used during World War I for the treatment of infected wounds, and subsequentiy for hygienic purposes such as mouthwashes, douches, etc. It can be used for sanitising food-handling equipment, but its activity is considerably slower than that of hypochlorites. I have decided to use a current transformer to sense the primary current waveform, since resistive methods are impractical in the half-bridge topology. Several transformer manufacturers make current transformers for such a purpose wound on a toroidal core. Coilcraft makes current transformers with 50, 100, and 200 turns on their secondaries. The secondary voltage must be determined in order to have representative current waveforms of the level to work with the control IC. Epoxide resin laminates are of particular importance in the aircraft industry. It has been stated that the Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft use 1800 kg of carbon fibre/ epoxide resin composites for structural purposes per aeroplane. The resin has also been used with Aramid fibres for filament-wound rocket motors and pressure vessels. The AV-18 fighter aircraft is also said to be 18% epoxide resin/cc bon fibre composite. The resins are also widely used both with fibres and with honeycomb structures for such parts as helicopter blades.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a randomized epidemiological study on patients who had received morphine nerve paste post-operatively for pain management purposes. Ninety-four percent of the patients used in the cohort presented themselves with surgical-site comphcations such as edema and inflammation 24 days (median) post-operation. Upon culturing of the wounds, 64% tested positive for bacterial infection. It is important to note that aU of the patients were found to have residual morphine paste on board indicative of a chronic morphine state (Sacerdote et al. 2000). 

The use of strands of material to tie off blood or other vessels (ligature) and to stitch wounds (suture) is an essential part of surgeiy. Both absorbable and non-absorbable materials are available for this purpose. 

These cements are the materials of choice for pulp capping (a wound dressing for covering an exposed or surgically treated pulp). They are superior to zinc oxide eugenol cements for this purpose (Mjor, 1963 Paterson, 1976). 

Electrochemical reactors (cells, tanks) are used for the practical realization of electrolysis or the electrochemical generation of electrical energy. In developing such reactors one must take into account the purpose of the reactor as well as the special features of the reactions employed in it. Most common is the classical reactor type with plane-parallel electrodes in which positive and negative electrodes alternate and all electrodes having the same polarity are connected in parallel. Properly designed o/w creams are elegant drug-de-livery systems, pleasing in both appearance and feel post application. They are nongreasy and are easily rinsed off of the skin. They are good for most topical purposes and are considered particularly suited for application to oozing wounds.

In antiquity, metal threads were made for ornamental or decorative purposes from precious, ductile metals or alloys, particularly silver and gold and their alloys. The hbrinolytic system (Fig. 22.2) is involved in restricting clot propagation in the blood and in the removal of fibrin as wounds heal. Treatment of patients with hbrinolytic (thrombolytic) drugs that activate the hbrinolytic system is not a substitute for the anticoagulant drugs.
