Recommendation 5a. The Army and its operating contractors should use the same medical forms, especially for key program elements, such as agent exposures and heat-stress monitoring. 

The purity and strength of a medication influence the accuracy and reliability of the dose that is administered to the patient. Purity is the dilution or mixture of the medication with other materials that give the medication form so it can be given to the patient. The strength of a medication is its concentration or weight. The dose is the amount of the medication taken at one time and dosage is the amount taken over a period of time. 

The pharmaceutical phase is the form of the medication such as a tablet, capsule, liquid, elixirs, or syrups. The medication form contains ... 

The form of the medication influences the time necessary for the medication to disintegrate and dissolve in the body. Disintegration is the breakdown of the medication form into particles. Dissolution is the dissolving of particles before the particles are absorbed. 

The time for a medication to disintegrate and dissolve is called the rate limiting time. Table 2.1 shows the rate-limiting time for medication forms. Rate limiting time is higher if the medication is in acidic fluids rather than alkaline fluids. 

Medication Form Pharmaceutical manufacturers add ingredients to a medication to increase or decrease the medication s absorption. 

Concentration Higher active ingredient in a medication form increases absorption. 

The two most important medical figures of Rome, whose contributions remain the uncontested standard for botany and medicine are Dioscorides and Galen.
