What has been Learned

The PSM pilot test will begin in three weeks, on May 15 we expect to maintain it for six to eight weeks to ensure that we get full benefit of this exercise. At the end of this period, the Facility Managers Council will review what has been learned, recommend any changes needed, and report our findings to senior management. 

This chapter is devoted to the energetics and kinetics of the incorporation of hydrogen into the simplest and most studied of its possible hosts, crystalline silicon of high perfection containing known concentrations of shallow donor or acceptor impurities. It undertakes to review what has been learned from experiments about the phenomenological parameters... 

There are only about a dozen published studies on Se isotopes and only two on Cr isotopes. This chapter summarizes what has been learned thus far, and almost all of this work concentrates on aqueous reactions at earth surface temperatures. It also attempts to provide some geochemical background and reviews some relevant points from the sulfur isotope literature, which provides insight into the isotopic systematics of Se and Cr.

The filing of a full IND, with a formal coordinated writeup of all the supporting data, while necessary 40 years ago, is now an unnecessary requirement in the early-stage clinical programs of most large pharmas and CROs that do this work today. It is a barrier to the easy access to human studies that is needed for proof-of-concept studies (Phases 1 and 2a). There has been very little trouble in the past 20 years with early INDs filed by responsible individuals, corporations and institutions. The system can now be safety adjusted to recognise this fact, by scaling back the IND requirements for responsible entities, based on what has been learned in the past 40 years. 

Given more than 10 years international experience with using economic evaluation, this chapter s objective is to assess what has been learned and to identify the key methodological and practical issues that have emerged. From what has already been published, and from what is contained in this symposium, it is abundantly clear that at least the early period of the hypertension which develops after constriction of the main renal arteries of animals is of humoral origin. The difficulty has been, and still is, the direct application of what has been learned about experimental renal hypertension to the problem of the pathogenesis of human essential hypertension. From what has been learned over the past year during this assessment phase, The Aerospace Corporation and its subcontractors will be concentrating now on the development of better blood identification methodologies. Improved immunological and electrophoretic methods, as well as combinations of these and other new methods, are being explored for application to the forensic serology problem. Other new blood systems with even higher discrimination capabilities are known but have yet to be adapted for use with dried blood. 

The theoretical treatment of cluster kinetics borrows most of its concepts and techniques from studies of smaller and larger systems. Some of the methods used for such smaller and larger systems are more useful than others for application to cluster kinetics and dynamics, however. This chapter is a review of specific approaches that have found fruitful use in theoretical and computational studies of cluster dynamics to date.
