Several associations were found between this trust index and some of the independent factors used. A chemist must realize that theories, models, and approximations are powerful tools for understanding and achieving research goals. The price of having such powerful tools is that not all of them are perfect. This may not be an ideal situation, but it is the best that the scientihc community has to offer. Chemists are advised to develop an understanding of the nature of computational chemistry approximations and what results can be trusted with any given degree of accuracy. 

Trust, which implies respect, is the fundamental source of high morale and productivity, loyalty, and enthusiasm. A common corporate aphorism is that "no one is irreplaceable". In fact, the loss of even the least efficient member of one s team to some degree scars the whole. While everyone may be replaceable, one must ask whether replacing people is worth the price in trust lost. There may be cases in which an employee proves incapable of performing at a minimal level of competence. In such cases, transfer or termination should be performed promptly for the benefit of the group, the corporation, and the employee. The recent trend toward solving corporate performance problems by dismissal of employees, however, is unwholesome. 

Many patients are turning to dietary supplements in an effort to take a more active part in the management of their health. Whether or not health care practitioners condone this practice, pharmacists must be familiar with these products. Pharmacists should be aware of the safety and toxicity issues surrounsding these products. They cannot afford to jeopardize patients trust and respect by dismissing the potential utility of dietary supplements. Rather, pharmacists need to encourage patients to be open and honest about their dietary supplement use so the highest degree of health care service may be provided. 

Personality factors also play a role but are sometimes overlooked. Clients turn to lawyers to solve or avert problems they face, and they want to have confidence in their attorneys. An assertive, confident lawyer inspires that trust. Much of the incentive for chemists to go to the trouble and expense of acquiring a law degree arises from the desire for the increased personal contact that is offered by a career in law over many of the traditional careers in chemistry. Thus, personality is an important attribute of a good and successful lawyer.

Establishing trust can be far from easy in organizations. Parties to a relationship may have differing status or authority, or may be in competition with each other, or simply have differing objectives. Such factors can present formidable barriers. Indeed you may feel that only a limited degree of trust is feasible. In which case you have to consider whether this Is acceptable or will undermine the level of collaboration you actually need. 

A 2006 Special Issue of the Energy Policy Journal (34(8)) analyses the European experience with eco-taxation and points to deeper underlying issues about the degree of public understanding and trust in political processes. A Swedish survey also underlines that attitudes to carbon taxation are directly related to the degree of trust in politicians, more even than an individual s own exposure to the taxes (Hammar and Jagers, 2006). 

Some oxidation of the cellulose chains also seems to take place, suggested by the rise in HAS matter during exposure and by the initially rapid rate of change that occurred upon subsequent thermal degradation of the exposed papers. This represents the "potentially harmful" effect of exposure, leading to loss in degree of polymerization through thermally-induced reactions. Lina Mehta obtained B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in India before moving to the Chemistry Department at Brunei University in 1989 as a postdoctoral research fellow. The Chemistry Department at Brunei finally closed in 2000 and Dr. Mehta moved into the Centre for the Environment and subsequently into the Institute for the Environment at Brunei. Her main area of research at present is on the synthesis and application of ionic liquids to environmental problems. She has published numerous research papers in various journals and co-authored reviews on aspects of heterocyclic chemistry for several well-known series of books. 

Even today, despite enormous progress made in recent years, the numerical expression of a sensory perception is still subject to certain preconditions, not least because the standard colorimetric systems in use still have faults and limitations. Unfortunately, many manufacturers of colorimeters contribute to the uncertainty with impressive software and by claiming a degree of accuracy to so many decimal places that simply is not possible. Users often trust blindly in the manufacturer s claims, although any number of good books are available that describe the problems of colorimetry. 

Treating addiction often requires outside help from doctors, counselor clergy and other professionals trained to advise people in trouble. Finding needed help is rarely easy, since some of the people most eager to work with drug abusers are in no way qualified to do the job. Above all, never put yourself or a child, relative, or friend in treatment for a drug problem with anyone you do not trust or consider fully informed and qualified, no matter what degree or certification the person holds.
