Test bench

Test bench methods for machines not too large for test cabins have been developed in order to obtain comparative results. In the case of particles, the tracer gas describes well the behavior of aerodynamic diameter particles less than 5 to 10 gm. For larger particles, correction factors should be used to modify the efficiency results obtained using the tracer gas technique. [Pg.1018]

Once a decision is made to perform treatability studies, the type of treatability testing (bench or pilot scale) should be decided. The choice of bench versus pilot testing is affected by the level of... [Pg.603]

It is unhkely that novel compounds with promising phamiacod5mamic profiles will at the same time possess completely adequate pharmacokinetic properties. Of note, attractive and potent drugs which exhibit unfavourable kinetic properties or show severe side-effects and toxicity, may be prematurely eliminated from the test bench, in spite of all the R D money spent. [Pg.376]

The preparation of electrodes and M EAs have been described elsewhere [15]. FC tests (determination of the cell voltage E and power density P versus the current density j) were carried out in a single DEFC with 5 or 25 cm geometric surface area electrodes using a Globe Tech test bench, purchased from ElectroChem (USA) (Figure 1.12). [Pg.27]

The model was validated against heavy duty and passenger car diesel engine test bench experiments. A good correlation was obtained between ESC and ETC experiments and simulation with 0 and 0.5% NO2 NO ratios and a virtual oxidation catalyst. The virtual oxidation catalyst model was realized by placing an oxidation catalyst model in front of the SCR catalyst. [Pg.413]

One way to solve this problem, and thereby control emissions directly from the start, is to use a sensor based on a material more resistant to thermal shock as a cold-start sensor [128]. SiC, as the second hardest material in existence only surpassed by diamond, is such a material and has therefore been tested for its suitability as a cold-start sensor. The water-splash resistance of SiC is still not verified because these experiments are complicated to perform in a laboratory engine test bench. [Pg.60]

As the models presented in this chapter are relatively complex, they are not used for control purposes in their current status. They can however be used for the development of control models, either by linearization and simplification, or as virtual test bench . This way, a control model is pre-tuned on the catalyst or system model before parameterization on the real test bench, thus saving development time and costs. [Pg.111]

In a third stage, test bench experiments are performed over full-scale monolith catalysts feeding real engine exhausts, and the data are used for final... [Pg.129]

For heavy-duty commercial vehicle application, validation data from an engine test bench were used. Two different NSRC volumes were employed, 7 times and... [Pg.162]

In subsequent stages validation experiments were performed over monolith catalyst samples at two different scales (i) monolith core samples (up to 10 cm3) in a laboratory rig for integral reactor experiments and (ii) full-scale honeycomb monoliths (up to 43 L in size) in engine test bench runs. [Pg.165]

A first data set was measured on a heavy-duty diesel engine test bench. Extruded monoliths with 300 cpsi, a wall thickness of 0.32 mm and a diameter of 144 mm were used in these runs. By varying the number of monolith catalyst samples it was possible to test different catalyst volumes (25, 32 and 43 L). The complete SCR catalyst setup resulted in SVs ranging from 21,000 to... [Pg.193]

New physics such as the fractional quantum Hall effect has emerged from non-magnetic semiconductor heterostructures. These systems have also been a test bench for a number of new device concepts, among which are quantum well lasers and high electron mobility transistors. Ferromagnetic 111-Vs can add a new dimension to the III-V heterostructure systems because they can introduce magnetic cooperative phenomena that were not present in the conventional III-V materials. [Pg.61]

Then the Cold Differential Set Pressure (set pressure on the test bench) must be reduced by the amount of the backpressure to obtain the correct set pressure on the installation CDSP = Set - BP. [Pg.222]

Set pressure versus temperature in process Use correct temperature correction factor as per manufacturer s recommendations while testing/setting the valve on the test bench. [Pg.243]

While frequent testing of the valves is necessary as seen before, everyone wants to reduce the downtime of the process. When a plant shutdown is planned, the valves can be dismantled and brought to the maintenance shop for testing on the test bench and eventual overhaul. [Pg.248]

Test benches generally provide a relative accurate test pressure but of course are tested on CDTP and not on actual service conditions. On the other hand, in situ testing is based on calculations with several variables that need to be all measured correcdy at the exact same time. [Pg.251]

Remove the blowdown ring lockscrew from the body (Figure 10.27). Remove the blowdown ring from the nozzle and make sure you register the number of turns to unscrew the nozzle ring so it can be fitted in the same position when reassembling the valve. This is important because with small test benches without enough capacity, the blowdown cannot be set. [Pg.255]
