In many situations, the service package received by the patient varies, based on clinical diagnoses, laboratory tests, or other reasons. If this is the case, it is important to independently establish verifiable criteria for values that are above the minimum in order to prevent what has been called "di-agnosfic creep" (the tendency for providers to select higher-value packages). One way to do so is to maintain separate contracts for providers of laboratory diagnostic services or services that merit higher reimbursement values.

After three years preparation, the TV inspection of the primary circuits internals has been successfully issued in April 2001. The Novatome division of Framatome-ANP, completed the extensive non-destructive inspection program requested by the Phenix plant with an inspection of the primary circuit internals. Included in its service package were the setting up of the TV inspection — which required the partial draining of the primary-side sodium — the supervision of the supply of various materials needed to be developed and qualified, and the actual carrying out of die inspection. Justification studies for the inspection were carried out at the same time focusing on the thermalhydraulic, safety and radiation protection aspects affected by the lowering of the sodium level in the primary vessel. 

Siemens offers a comprehensive range of innovative services packages for all maintenance activities, including component service for example for valves, pumps and piping, as well peripheral activities such as e.g. radiology and radiation protection. 

Siemens Nuclear Power GmbH, in cooperation with plant operators, is currently implementing new and improved service concepts which can have a major effect on the way in which maintenance will be performed in the future. Innovative service packages for maintenance in nuclear power plants are available which can be used to perform a time- and cost-effective maintenance.

The potential for cost reduction in the field of maintenance of nuclear power plants has been exploited thanks to the use of optimized processes and these innovative technologies. The maintenance services provided by Siemens Nuclear Power GmbH enabled to make an important contribution to this success. 

Channel and customer service are also a key input to develop SC strategic plan, as they will define how the company will serve the market and what service packages will be offered to customers to differentiate the company in the marketplace. Results could then be compiled, and combined, to gain further insights into services. Roth and Menor (2003) proposed that business-customer service encounters may be considered as combinations of three functional areas— the customer, the service product, and the service delivery system. Hence, enhanced business-customer service encounters could possibly be induced when one or more of these functional areas improved. In particular, an improved business-customer service encounter may arise where the customer perceived improved customer value with the services provided or in the services package being delivered.
