Sarco-endoplasmic reticulum

MAHMA NONOate spontaneously dissociates in a pH-dependent, first-order process with a half-life of 1 min at 37 °C. In vivo, examination in anesthetised rats showed, that MAHMA NONOate had both platelet inhibitory and vasodepressor effects [50]. Like other NONOates, MAHMA NONOate inhibited collagen-induced and ADP-induced rat platelet aggregation in a concentration-dependent manner [51]. ODQ, a soluble GS inhibitor, caused only small influence on the concentration-response curve to MAHMA NONOate, indicating that cGMP-independent mechanisms play a crucial role. A potential target of MAHMA NONOate induced inhibition was the sarco-endoplasmic reticulum calcium-ATPase of the platelet dense tubular system... [Pg.242]

Cyclopiazonic acid is a potent inhibitor of calcium uptake and acts as a selective inhibitor of the sarco-endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ATPases (SERCAs) [53], it induces charge alteration in plasma membranes and mitochondria and it can function as an antioxidant [54]. [Pg.119]

The mechanism of action of both artemisinin and related compounds has been linked to inhibition of the parasite-encoded sarco-endoplasmic reticulum Ca -ATPase (SERCA) PfATP6, which was supported by decreased resistance in organisms with lower copy numbers of the gene " and of polymorphism in the genes in the field. Further work into the mechanism of action of artemisinin is ongoing in many laboratories around the world and there is evidence for involvement with chelation of nonheme iron by most if not all of the tri-oxo-containing compounds, be they modified natural products or synthetics. ... [Pg.26]

The deterministic dynamics of this cluster model has been investigated in [32, 33]. In addition to IP3 mediated Ca liberation, we considered sarco-endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase (SERCA) pumps, which transport Ca from the cytosol to the ER, and a leak flux. The stationary Ca concentration profile that results from these three fluxes is... [Pg.297]

The anthranilamide, DP-012, stimulates a rise in [Ce ]i under conditions of Ca -free saline similar to that observed with standard saline, indicating that this chemistry mobilizes calcium from internal calcium stores rather than through external entry via voltage-gated Ca channels. Three possible targets are involved in release of internal calcium stores, inositol trisphosphate receptors (IP3RS), ryanodine receptors (RyRs), and sarco-endoplasmic reticulum ATPase (SERCA). These P. americana neurons possess fimctional ryanodine receptors. [Pg.226]
