Frequent communications regarding the safety system progress should be published in a dedicated safety newsletter, on the internal safety website, and if applicable, in the company s internal magazine.

Immunoaffinity columns are extremely versatile and have been used for the isolation and concentration of a diverse number of analytes from a wide array of matrices (2). Analytes may include macromolecules such as proteins and receptors or small molecules such as environmental toxins, antibiotics, or pesticides. Matrices may include animal tissues or excreta, plant extracts, cell culture medium, or virtually any milieu encountered in biological work. Because of its value as a research tool, immunoaffinity chromatography has found extensive use by the pharmaceutical industry to purify therapeutic proteins, the food safety community to purify small amounts of toxins from food and as a general tool for analytical chemists to purify analytes for subsequent instrumental analysis. 

The generic standard of the safety community is IEC 61508, Functional Safety of E/E/PE safety-related Systems. The engineering community has built a set of standards based on IEC 61508 for specific sectors, taking into account the experiences, background knowledge and requirements the process control sector, medical sector, nuclear, railways, and is still continuing (e.g., automotive in progress). But this standard takes only the safety view, security is not even mentioned ... 

On the other hand, we have ISO 15508 (Common Criteria, focusing on component evaluation) and ISO 17799 (system guidelines on security, holistic, not only IT), for Security. They have even another language than the safety community, and another view what levels of protection mean (EALs vs. SILs). From the dependability point of view, requirements could be derived for security features and profiles depending on the SILs required for safety. Allocations could be done not only between HW, SW and components on functional level with respect to safety but with respect to security also. But interaction and discussion would be necessary (Note The aspects of multilateral security could be correlated to SILs according to...

In the past decade, however, the occupational health and safety community has directed greater attention to pesticide exposures among workers and then-families. Initiatives, focused on minority workers, women and the children of workers, have also made pesticide exposure assessment a timely topic for scientific invesfigation and medical management. Finally, major new epidemiologic initiatives in both the United States and Canada have given new stimuli to the study of occupational pesticide exposme in farming (Alavanja et al, 1996 Arbuckle et al., 1999).

Information about safety is vital to ensure employee safety. All employees should expect to receive information about safety, and research has clearly shown that communication about safety reduces accidents. The expected safety communication scale has items which examine different aspect of safety communication. A new employee may be expecting such communication, and it is important that new employees understand the degree to which job incumbents engage in safety... 

The expected safety communication scale has 10 items, and both versions are shown in Table 9.2. At this time, the scale has not been used in published research. Unpublished analysis of 144 new employee responses produced a Cronbach s alpha of 0.79.

Warning sign is safety communication, and it is intended to communicate information about safety issues or problems. Its purposes can be referred to as safer world, provide information, influence behavior, and reminder, among which, the behavior influence is the effect issue, and that is to say, compliance behavior is the result of warning.
