Ribbed steel

A series of prismatic reinforced RubCon samples were produced. The reinforcement material was ribbed steel bar 0 8 mm. The height of samples or depth of a reinforcement anchorage was equaled from 35 up to 120 mm, that is, (4.3 15)0 the thickness of the protection layer was 8, 16, and 24 mm (1, 2, and 3) 0. Displacements of a reinforcing bar relatively the end face of the RubCon prism and load were measured during the tests. Results of these tests are shown in Figure 2.14 and Figure 2.15. [Pg.42]

Disk Filters A disk filter is a vacuum filter consisting of a number of vertical disks attached at intervals on a continuously rotating horizontal hollow central shaft (Fig. 18-127). Rotation is by a gear drive. Each disk consists of 10 to 30 sectors of metal, plastic, or wood, ribbed on both sides to support a filter cloth and provide drainage via an outlet nipple into the central shaft. Each sector may be replaced individually. The filter medium is usually a cloth bag slipped over the sectors and sealed to the discharge nipple. For some heavy-duty applications on ores, stainless-steel screens may be used. [Pg.1717]

Figure 4-163 shows a steel body PDC bit with standard-size cutters lightly set on a deep inner cone profile. This bit has changeable nozzles and is best described as having a ribbed flow pattern although there are open face characteristics near the center and bladed characteristics near the gage. The lADC classification code in this case is S 7 4 4. [Pg.807]

Quadraxially oriented (four directional layer) glass fabric-TS vinyl ester polyester RP sheet panels with a foam core and gel coating are used. Most of the panels are 3 mm thick with molded-in rib structure supports. Body skins are bonded to the chassis with a double-stick acrylic tape developed by 3M Co. as well as mechanical fasteners. Unlike most steel designs, no B-pillar structural component between the front and rear doors is required thus providing more interior space and easy entry since doors open in opposite directions. [Pg.255]

It s called a khanjar, my guide said cheerfully. Syrian. Made of damascene steel. It was collected in 1204 at the sack of Constantinople by one of theif —his smile faltered— m yancestors. Unfortunately he collected it between his ribs. Fortunately his son was there also and was able to salvage the dagger, if not save the situation. ... [Pg.74]

The shade assembly (intended to shield the bombardier from the glare) consists of an asbestos orFiberglas shade(G), shade wire, 8 steel tubing ribs (F) springs, and a shade frame clamped to the base block end of the illuminant assembly. A shade retainer support (B) into which a steel fuze adapter and its plastic shipping plug (A) fits, completes the flare assembly... [Pg.956]

In order to study cathode flooding in small fuel cells for portable applications operated at ambient conditions, Tuber et al.81 designed a transparent cell that was only operated at low current densities and at room temperature. The experimental data was then used to confirm a mathematical model of a similar cell. Fig. 4 describes the schematic top and side view of this transparent fuel cell. The setup was placed between a base and a transparent cover plate. While the anodic base plate was fabricated of stainless steel, the cover plate was made up of plexiglass. A rib of stainless steel was inserted into a slot in the cover plate to obtain the necessary electrical connection. It was observed that clogging of flow channels by liquid water was a major cause for low cell performance. When the fuel cell operated at room temperature during startup and outdoor operation, a hydrophilic carbon paper turned out to be more effective compared with a hydrophobic one.81... [Pg.143]

SHEET FILTRATION. Sheet filters consist of a tubular steel chassis or a freestanding filter chassis in which square metal or plastic filter plates are vertically arranged. The filter plates are fluted plates made of ribbed material or tubular frames with perforated plates. [Pg.228]

Ribbed panels were to be vertically placed and would be longitudinally supported by steel profde members thus forming a noise-abatement wall system . [Pg.138]

RubCon structures reinforced with steel-ribbed bars have a high bond stress due to adhesion and forces of mechanical bond. [Pg.62]

The following figures illustrate a numerical experiment on determining impact resistance of the two profiles conventional and modified. A steel ball (diameter of 76.20 mm = 3 in.) was (mathematically) dropped from 36-in. weight at the board surface at different locations. Predictably, the most vulnerable areas were those between ribs. Figures 7.19 and 7.20 show vertical displacement of the material within both boards at the moment when the ball reached its maximum depth. At this moment the velocity vector of the ball changes sign, and the ball starts to move upward. [Pg.313]

Figure 7.19 Vertical displacement of the material within the conventional composite board caused by an impact of the 3-in. (diameter) steel ball dropped from 36-in. height at the surface between ribs. The displacement and the deformation are showed at the moment when the ball reached its deepest position. At this moment, only the area around the impact location is deformed the deformation front has not yet reached the peripheral parts of the board.
