The coat weights are critical for fhe release properties of the liner. They are typically in the 0.7 to 1.0 g/m range and are applied most frequently by multiroll reverse coating systems or by offset gravure rolls. [Pg.152]

In other areas, POD has been used to improve the wear resistance of a mbber latex binder by incorporation of 25% of Oksalon fibers. Heat-resistant laminate films, made by coating a polyester film with POD, have been used as electrical insulators and show good resistance to abrasion and are capable of 126% elongation. In some instances, thin sheets of PODs have been used as mold release agents. For this appHcation a resin is placed between the two sheets of POD, which is then pressed in a mold, and the sheets simply peel off from the object and mold after the resin has cured. POD-based membranes exhibit salt rejection properties and hence find potential as reverse osmosis membranes in the purification of seawater. PODs have also been used in the manufacturing of electrophotographic plates as binders between the toner and plate. These improved binders produce sharper images than were possible before. [Pg.535]

Reversible Rubble Generation. In a two-layered pigmented polymeric layer system with ceramic coating, a bubble forms beneath the ceramic coating when heated locally (write process). For erasure, the bubble is closed again by heating the polymer close to its melting poiat (119). This development is also hampered by extensive erase times (>5 ms). [Pg.150]

The principle of the safety match is also used in the pull-wire fuse lighter used to start a fuse train for the ignition of fireworks items or more frequently for blasting work. This is a reversed pull match whereby the striker material is coated on a pull wire, and the match head material is within a small metal cup in a cardboard tube. Testing of Painted Products. The enhancement of paint adhesion is one of the principal functions of conversion coating (20—22). A group of tests based on product deformation is used to test the painted product. The appHance and cod-coating industries use the mandrel bend, the cross-hatch adhesion test, and the direct and reverse impact tests. Adhesion after a water soak is judged using a cross-hatch test performed on the exposed surface. [Pg.223]

A reverse-wipe appHcation is seen ia the clothes dryer fabric softener sheet whereia the spunbonded fabric is coated with a complex combination of compounds that are released iato the environment of a hot clothes dryer to soften and perfume the clothes, as weU as provide an antistatic quaHty.
