If the method for acquiring a VALUE is ASKIT, then a user PROMPT is stored. In order to guarantee a valid response to the question, a LISP function to check the answer is included with the FACT. Table I lists the currently implemented response checking functions. Whenever the inference engine reaches one of these facts, searching is stopped and the user is prompted for a value. [Pg.92]

Low detector response. —> Check detector settings and operating conditions. [Pg.1659]

For computer-marking, the student simply chooses one (or more) correct answers from, say, five questions or possibilities, and the computer compares these choices with what it has been told are the correct responses. Many variations on the theme are possible, for example, of four statements and possible responses, check a if all four are true, b if 1,2,3 are True and 4 False,... until e all are false, but always the response will be a small set of figures or numbers. (It may sometimes seem appropriate to give students extra marks if they can understand how to answer the questions )... [Pg.345]

While the manipulator inspection pod was accessible at pile cap level the mandatory pre-entry calibrations were made by clamping the test block to the probe chamber at the three positions necessary for comprehensive response checks of the v iole probe eirray. After calibration the manipulator, with the probe assotibly retracted, was lowered by the pile cap crane into the standpipe. Once seated and... [Pg.115]

Emergency Response Check all boxes that correspond with any emergency response and cleanup crews that participated in resolving the incident. If a fire crew, EMS, or police unit responded to the incident, include the report number. [Pg.1215]

Automated test equipment (ATE) Any computer controlled equipment used to test integrated circuits. Builtin self-test (BIST) An acronym that generally describes a design technique with input stimulus generation circuitry and output response checking circuitry. [Pg.851]

SCD Phase 4 aims to prioritize the identified corrective actions in SCD Phase 3 by a more detailed analysis. Its goal is to clarify the measures strengths and weaknesses and to define their rank order by a qualitative and quantitative prioritization. In this way, two decision making methods are suggested which differ in scope and level of complexity. Moreover, this phase assesses the availability of different resources required by the identified corrective actions. The last phase, SCD Phase 5, focuses on the preparation of implementation, considering aspects such as time scheduling, responsibility check, and resource allocation. [Pg.25]

A response check of nuclear instruments to a neutron source is required within 8 hours prior to loading (or resumption of loading if delayed for 8 hours or more). [Pg.415]

No firm conclusion should be drawn from the above data, through the observed pattern deserves attention. The AE activity observed on the SH header can originate from the weld, but could be due to other causes, namely to the settlement of the hanger. Ultrasonic inspection of the weld at regular intervals checks whether any sizeable change in NDT response from the weld has taken place. [Pg.78]

The preliminary observations underline the manufacturer s responsibilities. He is obliged to analyse the hazards in order to identify those which apply to his equipment. He must design, manufacture and check his equipment to ensure its safety even with respect to their use under reasonably foreseeable conditions. In addition, the manufacturer must interpret and apply the essential requirements in such a way as to take account of the state-of-the-art at the time of design. That latter requirement underlines the evolutive character of the essential requirements which is inherent in the new approach. [Pg.941]

A final component of a quality control program is the certification of an analyst s competence to perform the analysis for which he or she is responsible. Before an analyst is allowed to perform a new analytical method, he or she may be required to successfully analyze an independent check sample with acceptable accuracy and precision. The check sample should be similar in composition to samples that the analyst will routinely encounter, with a concentration that is 5 to 50 times that of the method s detection limit. [Pg.708]

The next step is to show that the response for the analysis of any target compound is linear. This step is known as the initial calibration and is achieved by the analysis of standards for a series of specified concentrations to produce a five-point calibration curve (Figure 41.2a, b). On subsequent days, a continuing calibration must be performed on calibration check compounds to evaluate the calibration precision of the GC/MS system. [Pg.299]

Internal standards at a known concentration are added to the sample after its preparation but prior to analysis to check for GC retention-time accuracy and response stability. If the internal standard responses are in error by more than a factor of two, the analysis must be stopped and the initial calibration repeated. Only if all the criteria have been met can sample analysis begin. [Pg.300]

Weld inspection duties of personnel responsible for judging the quahty of welding with regard to specifications have been treated (15). Some of these duties involve the visual inspection of welds to determine if they are of the proper size, location, and type and are free of defects. Specifications of materials used must be checked, as must equipment and procedures. [Pg.349]

Company practices differ in who does purchasing research and how it is done. Several patterns are evident. The chemical buyer is responsible for preparing the purchase profiles, possibly with in-house Hbrary assistance. Market research analysts are assigned to the purchasing department and prepare some or all of the profiles needed. Outside consultants are used to prepare some of the purchase profiles or as a check on internal procedures and conclusions. [Pg.538]

The electrodes have a wide linear response range to CrP" and Ni " ions concentration. For this reason, they are adequate for the potentiometric determinations of copper and nickel ions in diluted solutions (dilutions may go down to 10 M) as well as in checking the industrial waters. [Pg.151]

Check whether there is a formal system for waste disposal. Is off-site waste disposal covered by contract or letter of agreement that specifies the mode of disposal, liabilities and responsibilities Is waste disposed on-site covered by permits as required by applicable legislation ... [Pg.200]

The critical items may then be checked for the required response spectra (RRS) as discussed above. [Pg.452]

Check-weights can be used by Operations for spot checks on scales, but all repairs and adjustments should be sole responsibility of scale manufacturer or instrument department. [Pg.329]

It should be emphasized at this point that the speed of response is cnti-cal. The pressure transient pressure should not fall to less than 50% of the difference in pressure between the standby pump start pressure and the low oil pressure trip pressure. This is normally achievable with good design practice and the use of a switch and direct wiring. There is some tendency to use a transmitter and control through a remote computer. The latter arrangement is difficult to check on a shop test and normally is too slow to meet the requirement. An accumulator can be added and must be used if the requirement cannot be met. This additional hardware contributes to higher initial cost and possible reliability problems in the future. The direct switch method is therefore highly recommended. [Pg.314]
