Weights check

CViange-Can Mixers Change-can mixers are vertical batch mixers in which the container is a separate unit easily placed in or removed from the frame of the machine. They are available in capacities of about 4 to 1500 L (1 to 400 gal). The commonest type is the pony mixer. Separate cans allow the batch to be carefully measured or weighed before being brought to the mixer itself. The mixer also may serve to transpoi the finished batch to the next operation or to storage. The identity of each batch is preseiwed, and weight checks are easily made. 

All scales must be kept clean and free from any buildup of polyurethane raw materials. The level and zero must be checked daily. A weight check also must be available in the normal weight range. The scales must be checked annually by a suitably qualified technician. 

The development of latent oedema can be recognized by means of daily weight checks when an increase in weight of > 1 kg occurs within 4 days. 

Routine Interventions. The execution of the aseptic process ordinarily requires a number of repetitive activities such as product and component replenishment, weight checking, operator breaks, and environmental monitoring. Each of these is a required part of the process, and cannot be eliminated. They should be included in the process simulation and performed...

Screen Analysis of the Substrate. The milled cellulose was screen analyzed in a Ro-Tap Testing Sieve Shaker (The W. S. Tyler Company, Cleveland, Ohio) using a series of 40, 60, 100, 120, 170, 200, and 270 mesh U.S. Standard Screens sifting for 45 min. plus an additional 5 min. after the first weight to check the reproducibility of weights of the screened fractions. Both the weights checked very well. The same procedure was followed in the case of SF, SF-H, SF-HM, SF-MH, and Sweco 70 samples, all of which were subsequently tested. Summary of screen analyses reports is presented in Table II and Figure 9. 

When a two-shot filling process is used, it is necessary to ensure that both shots are of the correct weight in order to achieve the correct composition. For this purpose, 100% weight checking at each stage is often desirable. 

For sizes larger than 2 inches, the swing-check valve is most often used. Chattering caused by frequent flow reversals can be stopped by using this type of valve equipped with an outside lever and weight. Checks are used in process pump piping after the discharge nozzles to prevent liquid backup in case of pump failure.

The procedure for recovery of material which has been inserted into the core requires verification that the recovery equipment has been fully inserted and a weight check of the recovered material at the reactor equipment service facility. These two checks provide assurance that essentially all of the reserve shutdown material has been recovered.
