Responses of testing

At contact fatigue tests of different steel and cast iron types was used the acoustic emission technique. Processed records from the AE analyser show importance of acoustic response of tested surface continuous sensing. In graphs are obvious characteristic types of summation curves, or may be from significant changes of AE signal course identified even phases of the wear process. 

Admitting that endogenous synthesis in the control mixtures is negligible or can be adequately suppressed, the difference in response of test and control samples toward the final detection system (Section 4) should be such that it is exclusively due to the bile pigment conjugate synthesized in the test incubation mixture. The latter requirement depends, to some extent, on the final assay procedure adopted (Section 4). 

Fresh urine was collected from Asian elephant females that were at the height of estrus.150 Urine was extracted with an immiscible organic solvent and concentrated. Bioassay involved reconstitution of the extract concentrate in acetone, addition of the acetone solution to (in active) urine samples from females that were not in estrus, and application to concrete slabs or logs. Observers, who were unaware of the sites where samples had been placed, recorded the flehmening responses of test bull elephants. These studies convincingly demonstrated that in Asian elephants the estrous state, and probably the receptivity of the female, is revealed by a substance or substances that can be extracted from the urine 150 of females in estrus. 

Data points represent comparisons of slopes of responses of test diets (containing soy) with responses of control diets (without soy products) with added minerals as the carbonate X 100. (Sources 16,17, 20). 

Part 58.90 of the regulations deals with animal care. Animal care and housing must be adequate to preclude stress and uncontrolled infiuences that could alter the response of test systems to test articles. The personnel responsible for receiving and examining animals are evaluated along with the animal care procedures, including any routine treatments, such as vaccination and deworming. Further, the FDA examines the criteria used to determine when and for how... 

Besides these scientific aspects of the Study Director s responsibilities, there are a number of more managerial responsibilities, which are, however, as important for the proper conduct of a study as are the scientific principles involved. Already before any work on the study is undertaken, the Study Director should ascertain that management have committed adequate resources to perform the study, and that adequate test materials and test systems are available. In other words, a Study Director should never take on the assignment for the conduct of a study, for which there are no adequate resources. It would therefore certainly lie in the Study Director s responsibility to alert the test facility management about any such deficiencies and to insist on their remediation, as it would, vice versa, become the responsibility of test facility management to react to such an alert with proper measures. 

It is counted among the responsibilities of test facility management to ensure that appropriate and technically valid Standard Operating Procedures are. .. followed , even though Study Directors and Quality Assurance personnel would certainly be in a better position to judge the observance of SOPs by study personnel. The real importance of this responsibility lies thus less in the detailed remonstrances with single persons, or admonitions of individual errors, but in the stipulation that management has to act and to implement adequate measures if Quality Assurance reports a less than optimal observance of SOPs. 

Under GLP a number of special positions with special responsibilities have to be created. Although some of these positions may already be present in a test facility, they merit very thorough reflection and consideration at this point. The responsibility of test facility management to assume the leading role in the implementation of GLP has already been described, as has the early appointment of a Quality Assurance manager or expert. There are the prospective Study Directors to be chosen, since they will have their central responsibility in the conduct of the studies, and thus they will have to have time to acquaint themselves with their new roles and responsibilities.

The Hasse diagram shows only one comparability, namely between FL10/00 and FL3/95, indicating a decline of concentrations in all chemicals, metals and toxic qualities at the same time. However, all FL samples taken before and in between are not comparable to any other sediment sample, and are therefore expressing different responses of test systems and chemicals. 

One of the important spheres of interaction lies in possible modification of the immune status and responses of test organisms, including man. The field of immunotoxicology, like that of behavioral toxicology, is still in its infancy. A penetrating analysis of the problems inherent in premature efforts to prescribe mandatory tests in this area (28) concludes as follows ...

Toxicologists typically quantify the response of test organisms to a chemical dose and then extrapolate from those test data, incorporating various margins of safety, to develop benchmarks used in risk assessment. Some of the most important benchmarks are described below using the jargon applied to the process in the European Union and the United States [84-86]. 

In general, the transmission loss depends upon the angle of incidence of the incident sound (Bies and Hansen, 2009). Random incidence transmission loss refers to the response of test specimens exposed to a diffuse incident sound field in testing laboratories. The test results are therefore most directly relevant to the performance of similar specimens exposed to similar sound fields. The random incidence transmission loss of a partition is measured in a laboratory by placing the partition in an opening between two adjacent reverberant rooms designed for such tests as shown in Fig. 5.4 (ASTM E90-09, 2009 ISO, 10140-2, 2010). 

If flight is essential for behavioral choices to be made, then there may be no alternative to the wind tunnel. These are larger and more expensive than olfactometers, and few allow the diversity of choices provided by multiarm olfactometers. Nevertheless, a number of variables can be measured in wind tunnels relating to the time and intensity of various behavior responses of test organisms to odor (e.g.. Baker Carde 1984) (Table 5.1).
